In recent year, Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, the section from Hon Ro 2 residential zone to Khanh Hoa Political School is often flooded in rainy seasons, causing traffic disruption.

According to the leader of Khanh Hoa Department of Transportation, the reason for the flooding is the sewerage system of the Hon Ro 2 residential zone project which is uncompleted and thus is not able to be connected to the 4 ditches and culverts of Nguyen Tat Thanh Street for rainwater to drain into the Tac River. Besides, the landslide covered and blocked drain lids and culverts, impeding the flow of water.

Nguyen Tat Thanh Street is often flooded with full of landslide debris after heavy rain , causing traffic disruption.

According to the report of the Management Board of Nha Trang Construction Projects, the Hon Ro 2 residential area infrastructure project is divided into 2 areas, including the riverside and the mountainside. Currently, the riverside has been put into use and the mountain side has been 90% completed. The drainage and transport infrastructures with sidewalks, trees, etc on the mountainside are not completed due to site clearance obstacles.
Nguyen Van Dan, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Transportation says the sewerage in Hon Ro 2 residential zone done by Vietnam Water, Sanitation & Environment Company has met the basin, aperture and connection requirement, ensuring drainage capacity for the project area after completion.

To clear watercourses from landslide and enable flood waters to rush away more quickly, Khanh Hoa Department of Transportation has proposed Nha Trang City People's Committee to request the Management Board of the city construction projects to coordinate with the Provincial Land Fund Development Center to urgently dredge sewers; soon complete the site clearance, compensation and resettlement work for the drainage system of residential infrastructure projects to be done urgently, synchronously connected with the horizontal drainage system of Nguyen Tat Thanh Street to collect rainwater which then drains into the Tac River.

In the long term, a plan of additional rainwater collection and sedimentation pits are needed in front of the Provincial Political School to improve the transport of floodwaters during the rainy season with a separate drainage system along Nguyen Tat Thanh Street in front of the Provincial Political School to collect rainwater from the horizontal connection sewer to the outlet of Hon Ro 2 residential area infrastructure project to drain the water into the Tac River, says Nguyen Van Dan.

Nha Trang Public Service Management Board has been assigned by Nha Trang City People's Committee to assume the drainage research for Nguyen Tat Thanh Street. With ideas and suggestions received from the Department of Transportation, the board is hiring a consultant to do a survey of the entire northern Hon Ong area to propose specific solutions. The survey results will be submitted to the City People's Committee to conduct the flooding prevention work before the rainy season this year.
