A dialogue with more than 150 Youth Union members representing young people in Khanh Hoa Province was held on May 28. The event was presided over by Nguyen Dac Tai, Vice-Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee.
The dialogue addressed ideas, thoughts and suggestions of Youth Union members, focusing on social issues and policies for the youth development. Many young people expressed their concern over improving the living and tourism environment in Khanh Hoa. Le Thanh Van, Secretary of Cam Lam Youth Union mentioned marine pollution which affected life quality as well as aquaculture and expressed the hope for drastic measures taken by the government.
Representatives of Van Ninh District Youth Union and Khanh Hoa Border Guard Youth Union raised similar ideas for tough measures against illegal constructions on mountains and hills. Tourism and infrastructures development also drew the attention of many Youth Union members. Nguyen Chi Anh, Secretary of Nha Trang City Youth Union expressed his concern over tourist overcharging and how to maintain order and security for tourism practice. Illegal foreign tour guides were also blamed for compromising tourism service quality. Other suggestions to provincial leaders included opening more roads to Nha Trang Technical & Technological College, Le Quy Don Gifted High School and Khanh Hoa Political School to improve travel safety, accelerate the workshop construction in the new location of Nha Trang Technical & Technological College.
Local departments, agencies and People’s Committees are required to pay more concern over State management over the youth, give support for the youth development, listen to their ideas and suggestions for having suitable policies to facilitate young people to develop their skills and talents, says Nguyen Dac Tai, Vice-Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee.
Many representatives shared their concern over political education and ideological orientation for the youth in the present time, focusing on the responsibilities and operation of Youth Union affiliations. Khanh Hoa Youth Union has launched several environmental protection activities but the effectiveness has only reached Youth Union members. Therefore, more effort and concern are required from local departments, agencies and provincial leaders, says Bui Hoai Nam, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Youth Union.
Nguyen The Han, Secretary of Nha Trang University Youth Union showed his concern over building the workforce for Youth Union organizations by drawing intellectuals. In addition, other issues focused on the lack of cultural institutions for teenagers and children in Khanh Son District; how to spot a fake website; boost public participation funding for the sake of vulnerable children, and implementation of the pilot project on teaching swimming to primary and junior high school students.
Nguyen Dac Tai took all the youth’s ideas and suggestions into consideration in local socio-economic development. Clear explanation as well as guidance were given for each issue. The dialogue between provincial leaders and the youth this year proved effective, showing the youth’s responsibilities. Most suggestions focused on common issues, helping provincial leaders get the youth’s views about social issues.
Nguyen Dac Tai has appreciated the contributive suggestions and looked forward to the next face-to-face dialogue where the youth can not only share their thoughts and opinions but also suggest solutions to Khanh Hoa People’s Committee to deal with issues of common interest and concern.
