The 2019 Green Summer Campaign is scheduled to take place on July 20 -30. The launching ceremony is expected be held at Khanh Hoa University on July 20. Volunteers from universities and colleges are ready for the trip to help local residents in disadvantaged communities.
Many meaningful activities
The 2019 Green Summer Campaign of Nha Trang University is expected to take place in Thanh Son Commune, Khanh Son District with the participation of 30 volunteers who are going to get engaged in installing lighting on rural roads for 1km, building a flower garden and an amusement zone; repairing and decorating APA1 school location of Thanh Son Primary & Junior High School; opening a class for children, organizing a charity fair and offering gifts to disadvantaged children. The campaign is expected to begin on July 20 with the participation of experienced and well-recruited volunteers, says Truong Trong Danh, Vice-Chairman of Nha Trang University Students’ Association.

Khanh Hoa University Youth Union has also called for donations from the university staff and students and former students to the volunteer work in Ba Cum Nam, Khanh Son District. Youth Union Secretary Le Minh Phong says the volunteer trip focuses on giving gifts to the disadvantaged and beneficiaries of social welfare; renovating irrigational interior field canals and organizing reciprocation activities to mark July 27. Since June, the Youth Union has called for donations of textbooks, notebooks, school bags and other study items together with toys, food, clothing and footwear for poor students and residents. A charity fair will also be organized for the needy to choose and get the things they need free of charge.
On July 20, 50 volunteers of Nha Trang National College of Pedagogy will begin their 10-day trip to Son Hiep Commune, Khanh Son District to install lighting on rural roads for 500m; repair houses, offer gifts to social welfare beneficiaries, present scholarships and offer gifts to the disadvantaged; paint and repair schools, etc. Youth Union Secretary Tran Cong Huan says, the green summer campaign in Son Hiep Commune has a total expense of VND50 million. Besides, volunteers will also help the locality with dredging ditches, creating parterres and so on.
Support focus in one disadvantaged community
This year’s green summer campaign has some changes in work arrangement. Specifically, assistance will focus in one disadvantaged community. According to Khanh Hoa Students’ Association, volunteers will head to Khanh Son District to provide help. Specifically, Nha Trang University Students’ Association will be in charge of Thanh Son Commune; Khanh Hoa University Students’ Association will be in charge of Ba Cum Nam Commune; Nha Trang Tourism College Students’ Association will provide help in To Hap Town; Khanh Hoa Medical College Students’ Association will travel to Son Trung Commune, etc.
Truong Tan Hung, Permanent Vice-Secretary of Khanh Hoa Youth Union, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Young Pioneer Council says to improve its effectiveness, from this year, the annual green summer campaign will focus on one disadvantaged community, specializing in new rural construction, environmental protection, child care and engagement in solving social problems. The targets include building or repairing at least 2 amusement zones for children; specialized models and projects contributing to new rural construction, new models in agriculture, forestry and fishery; and 100% of Students' Associations organizing reciprocation activities to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the War Invalids & Martyrs' Day.
Besides, some schools have organized activities in response to the summer volunteering campaign in some other places. The Communications University Youth Union has just cooperated with the Youth Union of Vinh Hoa Ward to organize a clean-up day in Hon Mot Mount area, Vinh Hoa Ward, Nha Trang City before taking their volunteer trip to Khanh Vinh District.
The Green Summer Campaign 2019 is going to kick off. All school Youth Unions and Students’ Associations are ready to join the effort to help local residents in disadvantaged areas, ensuring an enjoyable and rewarding summer vacation.
