The 2018 – 2019 eighth Scientific & Technical Creation Contest, lasting for 1 year, has just been closed, showcasing many creative and practical products.

Held for the 8th time, the Scientific & Technical Creation Contest has attracted the participation of scientific & technical cadres, scientists and others. The contest has received 222 entries, including 121 products by scientific & technical cadres, accounting for 54.5%; 101 by workers and farmers. 65 excellent products have been awarded by the provincial organizing board.

This year’s entries showed creative insights with unique solutions to everyday problems and innovative products, contributing to socio-economic development and environmental protection. Products varied in many sectors such as information technology, electronics, communications, mechanics, automation, construction, transport, material, chemical, energy, agriculture, forestry, fishery, environmental resources, health care and education, according to Bui Mau, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Union of Science & Technology Associations (KUSTA).


High quality products


This year, most entries were in the sectors of agriculture, forestry and fishery and environmental resources. Specifically, the project “Prosthogonimus diagnosis and treatment” by PhD Nguyen Duc Tan, Director of The Central Institute of Veterinary Research & Development (IVRD) won the first prize;  Real-time - shrimp Enterocytozoon hepatopenaei detection by PhD Vu Khac Hung and M.A Nguyen Xuan Truong, IVRD, won the second prize. Caranx ignobilis Forsskal,1775 by Phuong Hai Company is known as a new fish species ever artificially cultured in Khanh Hoa, contributing to adding to the variety in aquaculture species.


In addition, many products were in medical sector, successfully and effectively applied in research and treatment in Khanh Hoa and expanded nationwide. Microwave Ablation-MWA in cancer treatment by Khanh Hoa General Hospital by Specialist II Cao Viet Dung has been applied at the hospital and proved effective.


Moreover, other entries were in the mechanics and energy industry, including improved KUBOTA tractor by Nguyen Dang, Van Ninh Farmers’ Association. “The innovation has shown effective in harvest work, helping reduce harvest loss and save labor, resulting in enhanced overall agricultural practices. I have applied the innovation in 4 tractors and they have proved efficient,” says Nguyen Dang.


The organizing board has directed leaders of local agencies, schools, institutes, businesses and authorities at all levels to continue providing favorable conditions and support to further inspire creativeness in scientific research; as well as apply the initiatives in reality, reports Bui Mau.


The Scientific & Technical Creation Contest is to spark creativity and innovation in the fields of science and technology and promote real-life applications, contributing to the provincial socio-economic development. In order to improve the contest, departments, agencies, institutes, socio-political organizations and local governments at all levels, especially enterprises are required to continue providing support and creating conditions for individuals and collectives to actively participate in the contest. Cadres, intellectuals, technicians and farmers need to promote creativity and research to create more practical products. It is essential for Khanh Hoa Union of Science & Technology Associations to boost propaganda as well as apply scientific and technical initiatives into practice, etc, according to Nguyen Tan Tuan, Permanent Deputy Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council.
