A multiple choice test grading app on Android phones has just been created by engineer Truong Phi Ho, a lecturer of Techniques for Network & Information Technology, Communications University and his collaborators. The app has won the 3rd prize at Khanh Hoa Contest Technical & Scientific Creation Contest.

The grading app is believed to make grading effortless, accurate and fast, especially tailored to quick tests, mid-term tests or final exams with just some tens or hundreds of test papers. It has proved to be efficient and cost-effective, according to Engineer Truong Phi Ho.

Besides the grading function, the app allows managing student and exam information; creating and sorting questions; storing, exporting quiz results to the organizing board’s email, etc.

From the idea of his teacher of machine identification at Nha Trang University where Truong Phi Ho is taking a higher course on information technology, he has registered a scientific research at school level. After nearly 6 months of research, he has successfully created the multiple choice test grading app on Android phones. According to the researchers’ group, users of smart Android phones have made up 85.9%. As a popular mobile operating system, Android has been chosen for the app to run on to facilitate users.

The app runs on Android phones with simple steps: opening the app and scanning paper tests. The right answers will be marked in green. It takes only 3-5 second to grade 1 paper. The results will be stored in the software to provide instant feedback to students, providing that their answers are completely and clearly darkened or circled. The app works well on forms with up to 100 questions, helping teachers to shrink the grading time.

He has shared his creation with some teachers at the Communications University and Nha Trang University. PhD Dinh Duong Luong, Chief of Office for Testing & Quality Assurance, Nha Trang University says the app is really helpful to teachers in student test assessment. Grading multiple-choice quizzes has become quick and accurate.

Thanks to the app, tests can be graded in class and the results can be announced instantly. The reports and analysis are also available for use. Besides, many of other conveniences are efficient and user-friendly. The product has been approved at school level and submitted to the 15th National Contest for Technical Creation 2018-2019.
