Khanh Hoa Fire Police Department and Nha Trang Division of Education & Training have just signed coordination regulations on firefighting and rescue training. Accordingly, fire safety training will be provided for all schools in the city.

A fire prevention and control training session has just been held at Tan Lap 2 Primary School with the participation of school staff, teachers and more than 1,000 pupils. School staff and teachers were instructed how to use firefighting equipment and pupils learned how to escape from danger and get help by calling their families and firefighters, says Principal Chau Dinh Mai Phuong.

Reportedly, since early 2019, Nha Trang City Firefighting Force has held 14 firefighting training sessions at 12 nursery, primary and junior high schools with the attendance of nearly 250 school staff, teachers and thousands of students. In this summer vacation, the force cooperated with the Youth Unions of communes and wards held 9 training sessions on firefighting; survival and water safety skills for approximately 1,000 Youth Union members, young people and students. Schools staff, teachers and students were provided with basic fire control and rescue knowledge and skills.
 
In addition, in early October, a fire fighting and rescue maneuver was first held for junior high schools in Nha Trang City with a the participation of many students from 26 junior schools. In a firefighting exercise, teams were instructed to make fire alert, evacuate and proceed to the closest exit, operate fire extinguishers to put out fire to save people and protect assets as soon as possible. Junior high schools namely Bui Thi Xuan, Yersin and Le Thanh Liem won the first, second and third prizes respectively.
 
More propaganda
 
Khanh Hoa Fire Police Department and Nha Trang Division of Education & Training have recently signed the cooperation regulations on firefighting and rescue, focusing on propaganda for school staff, teachers and students. Nha Trang City Firefighting Force was assigned to preside over making training plans for students and contact with schools and Youth Unions to improve fire safety awareness in extracurricular activities and summer activities and at school camps.
 
Nha Trang Division of Education & Training has made a guidance plan for schools to integrate fire safety and rescue knowledge into academic study and extracurricular activities. Besides, the Steering Board for Fire Control & Rescue has been strengthened with annual professional competence training for its staff. Nha Trang Division of Education & Training has also cooperated with fire forces to check fire safety measures at schools, says Nguyen Phuong Nguyen, an expert of Nha Trang Division of Education & Training.
 
According to Chau Dinh Mai Phuong, every year, the school checks and assures sufficient firefighting equipment; heighten school staff’s fire hazards and control awareness in meetings by regular checks and fire safety propaganda at flag meetings, in extracurricular activities and during academic classes, etc.
 
There are fire hazards due to flammable items, including wooden desks, chairs, computers, etc at school. Therefore, firefighting operation is considered one of the regular and focused tasks at school. Khanh Hoa Fire Police Department strives to provide fire control and safety skills for all schools in Nha Trang City in particular and in Khanh Hoa in general with the target of all school staff, teachers and students fully trained with basic firefighting and survival skills in case of fire, reports Senior Lieutenant Colonel Ho Chi Thanh, Vice-Chief of Khanh Hoa Fire Police Department.
