A tropical depression is now approaching Vietnam and forcast to pick up strength on the way to become a storm on October 30 and 31, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
This disturbance will bring locally heavy rainfall to cities and provinces from Thua Thien Hue to Ninh Thuan and the central Highlands. The rainfall in Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa is forecasted at 400-600mm.
A flash flood is expected to occur at level 2-3 or higher on rivers from Thua Thien Hue, Binh Dinh to Khanh Hoa due to downpours from Ha Tinh to Ninh Thuan and the highlands from October 30.
The flooding will result in landslide risks in affected areas, including Khanh Hoa, especially in the districts of Van Ninh, Ninh Hoa, Khanh Vinh and Khanh Son together with flooding in low-lying areas in riverside areas and inner cities in Khanh Hoa.
