Nguyen Dac Tai, Standing Vice-Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee welcomed Wong Chia Chiann, Consul General of Malaysia in Ho Chi Minh City on December 19.
At the reception, Wong Chia Chiann noted the purpose of her trip to Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa was to do a venue survey for ASEAN Ministers' Meeting scheduled to take place in January 2020. She also expressed the hope that provincial leaders and relevant departments and agencies would assist Malaysia in some sectors related to the ASEAN Ministers' Meeting.

In recent years, Malaysian visitors’ destinations in Vietnam have tended to move from Ho Chi Minh City to some central provinces, including Khanh Hoa. Therefore, businesses in Khanh Hoa are required to create suitable products and services to attract Malaysian tourists.
Nguyen Dac Tai welcomed Wong Chia Chiann's trip to Khanh Hoa. Khanh Hoa and Malaysia have had some information exchange through foreign affairs. However, the economic relation is still moderate, thus he hoped that the Consul General of Malaysia would provide a link for Malaysian investors and businesses to get investment opportunities in Khanh Hoa as well as give support for tourism and investment promotion delegations to Khanh Hoa to get investment experience and opportunities.
Tourism between Malaysia and Khanh Hoa has seen much progress, especially since a direct air route from Malaysia to Khanh Hoa was launched. This is considered as a good chance for the two partners to strengthen the relationship in socio-economics and culture. Khanh Hoa would facilitate Malaysian delegates to attend the ASEAN Ministers' Meeting in Khanh Hoa.
