The 2020 New Year is right around the corner, as usual, a mission of Vietnam People's Navy, directly the Naval Headquarter, Region 4, has paid a New Year visit to the Spratly Islands to bring New Year gifts from the mainland to soldiers and residents on the Spratly Islands.

Towards far-off islands

A few days before the departure of 3 ships (HQ - 561, KN - 490, KN - 491), trucks carrying gifts, containing necessities from local departments, agencies and all parts of the country called at Cam Ranh Port to be unloaded. Packages of cumquats, peach flowers, yellow apricot flowers, orchids and many others were then hurriedly and carefully loaded onboard by naval soldiers. All New Year gifts, especially plants and flowers, and necessities were carefully packaged and arranged onboard to assure safety during transportation, says soldier Le Van Thinh.

From November, the Party Committee, the Vietnamese Naval Headquarter, region 4 has focused on assuring logistics service quality for soldiers and residents on the Spratly Islands to welcome the Lunar New Year 2020.

Like previous years, this New Year, apart from kinds of gifts as regulated by Vietnam People's Navy, Vietnamese Naval Headquarter, region 4, cadres, soldiers and people on the Spratly Islands have received gifts from the province, organizations, businesses and individuals nationwide. The New Year gifts have shown the great concern and affection of the Party, the State and people for soldiers and residents on the far-off islands and encouraged soldiers to fulfill assigned tasks, according to Rear-Admiral Nguyen Duc Vuong, political commissar of the Naval Headquarter, Region 4.

Naval soldiers’ vigor and dash

The mission divided into 3 groups to the Spratly Islands departed on December 21 in a 22-day trip joined by cadres, soldiers together with more than 130 journalists of local and national news agencies and members of the Youth Club for Homeland Sea & Islands. This is the first trip to Spratly Islands for many of them. The marine trip is expected to experience challenges due to rough sea but it seemed that all of them were overwhelmed by excitement and determination to head to the sea.
