Van Hung Commune, adjacent to Ninh Hoa Town with the National Road running through, has risk locations for illicit drugs, theft, robbery and delinquency at night to promote crime and delinquency prevention and control. In 2019, the commune has invested in 46 security cameras totaling more than VND270 million in major locations, including junctions and crossroads in 6 villages. The work has been applauded by local residents. Some have also donated funding and supplied power to the cameras and pledged to get involved in the protection of the public surveillance system.

Just after 2 months of operation, the security camera model has helped the locality to prevent and handle 20 cases of security violation, including money gambling, theft, etc helping to enforce the legislation and State management over security, according to Pham Truc Viet, Chairman of Van Hung Commune People’s Committee.
The installment of 28 cameras has proved effective in Van Gia Town, so in 2019, the town has added 15 cameras in key locations. The security camera model has been considered among successful delinquency control measures. Video clips from surveillance cameras of the community are valuable resources for investigation, contributing to curbing crime and delinquency, says Nguyen Cong Bang, Chairman of Van Gia Town People’s Committee.
The communes of Van Thang, Van Phu Dai Lanh, Van Tho, etc have made plans to mobilize funds to invest in public security cameras. The leader of Dai Lanh Commune says the commune is bordered by Phu Yen Province and adjacent to Ca Pass identified as a risk location for illicit drugs and crime. Therefore, the security camera system installment is essential, helping police to detect and deter criminal and social evils. The locality is raising funds from businesses, organizations and individuals to implement the project.
The pilot model on security camera in Van Gia Town has proved effective. Van Ninh District has encouraged the expansion of the model in other communities in the district. Van Hung Commune has invested in the installment and operation of the public surveillance system, bringing great effectiveness. Other communes have learned the experience and made plans for the implementation in the coming time, says Vo Luc Pham, Vice- Chairman of Van Ninh District People’s Committee.
