Medical treatment schedules assured over New Year Holiday

Hospitals have made plans on working schedules, assuring a sufficient supply of medications, chemicals and equipment to meet the medical treatment and emergency during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday. Epidemic control has been also maintained and accelerated.
 
Huynh Van Dong, Director of Khanh Hoa Epidemic Control Center says the center has assured 2 epidemic prevention and control squads on 24-hour duty during Tet. Medicines, chemicals and devices will be delivered to districts and town for epidemic control (if any). 2 tons of Chloramine B and 2,500 flu pills are available for use at the center.
 
The Center for International Health Quarantine has been equipped with 5 remote temperature screening systems at Cam Ranh Airport. Travelers arriving from the pneumonia outbreak city of China will undergo temperature screening. The center has also founded disease prevention and control officials; built up an isolation zone; held 50 training and propaganda sessions for airport staff on the prevention and control of diseases, including atypical pneumonia; made plans for epidemic prevention and control; isolation procedures for infected cases;  pneumonia treatment (if any) at 3 hospitals, etc.
 
Meanwhile, Khanh Hoa General Hospital has issued its working schedules during the Lunar New Year, assuring 24-hour service with 135 staff. The number of staff working on the holiday remains unchanged at the Department of Polyclinic Emergency and operation. The hospital has also founded 2 emergency service teams with 20 staff available for professional support. “The hospital has directed all clinical departments to assure medical examination and treatment for patients during the holiday,” says Phan Huu Chinh, Director of Khanh Hoa General Hospital.
 
Dr. Le Quang Vinh, Vice-Director of Cam Ranh General Hospital says, “The hospital has completed its working schedules at 4 levels during Tet. Together with 50 medical officials on 24-hour standby, the hospital has added staff to assist in emergency service.”
 
Under Khanh Hoa People’s Committee, Khanh Hoa Mobilization Board for Voluntary Blood Donation and Khanh Hoa Red Cross have built a blood donation awareness campaign to assure sufficient blood supply before, during and after the Lunar New Year holiday. The campaign lasts from January 2 to March 13 with 5,000 units of blood expected to be collected, specifically, more than 2,200 units of blood from 7 blood donation drives in January, 2,100 units of blood in February and the remaining in March. Besides, 20 agencies and departments with more than 6,000 donors and 2,000 volunteers from 24 urgent blood donation clubs are available to response to the call for blood donation to assure sufficient blood supply for medical treatment and emergency, reports Luu Thi Bich Huong, Khanh Hoa Red Cross Vice-Chairperson.
 
Blood donated in January will be provided for hospitals to meet the treatment and emergency needs. The remaining standby blood in all types at the center is about 800 units, enough for the supply for the first 2 weeks after Tet. The blood donated resource is expected to meet the treatment and emergency needs at all hospitals in Khanh Hoa Province during the holiday. The hospital has also founded urgent blood donors’ groups mostly joined by young doctors, physicians and Youth Union members to assure blood of all types availability for medical treatment, according to Vo Xuan Thanh, Director of Khanh Hoa Hematology & Blood Transfusion Center.
