Several New Year gift-giving programs have been celebrated for children in disadvantaged and mountainous areas by Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs.
New Year gifts for the poor
46-year-old Bo Thi Xem, Suoi Coc Village, Son Tan Commune, Cam Lam District says, “My life is so hard. My husband is sick. I have 2 school-aged children to take are of. I’m so grateful for the local authority’s assistance for my children. My 3-year-old daughter has received a New Year gift from Khanh Hoa Children’s Fund, Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs. The gift is so meaningful, inspiring us to greater effort to work hard to improve life.”

Receiving a new bike, Ha Nhat Thai, 16, in Xuan Dong Village, Dien Xuan Commune, Dien Khanh District excitedly happily says, “This spring holiday, I have a bike to go around visiting my friends and relatives. I will try to study better to deserve the help.”
More than 100 disabled children at Khanh Hoa Social Service Center have a happier New Year as they have newly-renovated rooms. Similarly, children in SOS Children’s Village Nha Trang can enjoy various New Year activities, including musical shows, sporting games, Chung cake wrapping and traditional culinary programs. A child named Ngo Thi Thu Xuan, in a home No. 12, SOS Children’s Village Nha Trang says, “This is my first year spending the New Year here, I can feel a loving home with warm and affectionate feelings. I am so happy.”
Timely support and care
Every spring season, 100% of children at the village receive material and spiritual gifts from local authorities and communities. The support has left good impressions on the young kids, says Le Hung Nghe, Director of SOS Children’s Village Nha Trang.
Through Khanh Hoa Children’s Fund, organizations, businesses and benefactors have donated hundreds of New Year gifts to children in need. “Thanks to much aid from organizations and individuals, Khanh Hoa has given gifts to needy kids in rural and ethnic minority areas, social service centers and children of officials and soldiers working on the Spratly Islands in order to assure a happy and fulfilled New Year holiday,” says Luu Thi Ngoc Lien, Acting Director of Khanh Hoa Children's Fund.
Vo Binh Tan, Vice-Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2020, entertaining activities are scheduled in 191 places for 29,000 children in Khanh Hoa Province together with gifts totaling nearly VND2 billion offered to 11,701 children. The department has suggested Khanh Hoa People’s Committee would offer New Year gifts, VND300,000 funded by the provincial budget, to 100% of poor families. Apart from the financial grants, VND50,000/child is added to improve meals during the New Year Holiday.
The Lunar New Year 2020 is just around the corner. Hopefully, all children in Khanh Hoa will have a happy holiday thanks to comprehensive support and concern from the local authority and the whole society.
