Together with Covid-19 awareness boost, the Trade Union at all levels in Khanh Hoa Province has cooperated with businesses to deliver face masks and hand sanitizers as well as check laborers' body temperature in an effort to prevent workplace from Covid-19 exposure, keeping laborers safe and healthy at work.
Protecting health
The Trade Union and the owner of Gallant Ocean Vietnam have cooperated to enhance propaganda and give body temperature checks of all laborers before entering the workplace twice a day. All information related to Covid-19 is updated on notice boards and broadcasted during meal and rest time. Nguyen Thi Tho, Chairman of the Trade Union says protecting the health of nearly 1,000 workers is the responsibility of the Trade Union and business. The Trade Union has raised workers’ awareness of Covid-19 prevention and control in many ways. Most of the laborers have performed proper hygiene practice such as washing hands with soaps or hand sanitizers before meals and wearing face masks during work.

Similarly, the Trade Union and the owner of Vina Nha Trang Engineering Joint Stock Company have held a session to provide information about Covid-19 for more than 500 laborers. The company has monitored workers’ health as well as taken other measures against the epidemic.
A worker named Le Van Khanh says, “The entire workplace is frequently sterilized and workers are offered face masks, so we feel safe working here. Besides, the company has frequently given guidance on prevention and control methods for the sake of workers, their families and the community.”
According to Khanh Hoa Confederation of Labor, Covid-19 prevention and control measures have been strictly maintained in more than 1,600 Trade Union units. Grassroots Trade Unions have cooperated with businesses to take such measures as sterilization, clean-up, face mask delivery and propaganda to raise awareness of the epidemic and personal health protection.
“Together with face masks offer, body temperature checks are performed on laborers. The epidemic prevention and control measures have been strictly taken to raise awareness to prevent the spread of the disease, preventing workplace from exposure to Covid-19," says Nguyen Thanh Tuyen, Vice-Chairman of the Trade Union of Khanh Viet Corporation.
Keeping workplace healthy and safe
According to Khanh Hoa Confederation of Labor, to cope with the unusual occurrence of the epidemic, Khanh Hoa Trade Union has consecutively issued documents on the epidemic prevention and control guidance, boosted propaganda online via news-bulletins, fanpages, and the portals; and asked businesses to enhance hygiene at workplaces and guided laborers to use face masks properly to stay safe from the disease.
At the Trade Union at district levels, Covid-19 prevention and control measures have been boosted, including delivering leaflets to workers, etc. In addition, the Trade Union at all levels has also mobilized funding to buy face masks and hand sanitizers for laborers. Specifically, Van Ninh District Confederation of Labor has mobilized Khanh Anh Investment & Building Joint Stock Company to donate 4,000 face masks, and Primary School Trade Union 2 to donate 1,500 face masks to its members and businesses.
Huynh Thi Nam Khanh, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Trade Union of Industrial and Economic Zones says under the guidance of the Trade Union at all levels on Covid-19 prevention and control, Khanh Hoa Trade Union of Industrial and Economic Zones has implemented measures at grassroots Trade Unions; cooperated with local authorities to check and monitor safe work practice for workers. Disease prevention and control measures together with propaganda sessions have been developed at most of grassroots Trade Unions.
Moreover, the Trade Union at all levels has also mobilized members to donate blood to cope with blood shortage risks in medical treatment amid Covid-19 epidemic. Good examples included Ninh Hoa Town Confederation of Labor with 500 blood donors, giving 448 units of blood; Cam Lam District Confederation of Labor with 350 blood donors, giving 256 units of blood, etc.
