With skillful hands and creative ideas, students of Nguyen Trai High School, Ninh Hoa Town, Khanh Hoa have turned stained walls along Son Lua Lane, Quarter 6, Ninh Hiep Ward into captivating 3D paintings.
For nearly 1 month, Son Lua Lane connecting Vo Tanh Road and Song Ca Road, Quarter 6, Ninh Hiep Ward has seen students absorbed in drawing colorful pictures of the deep blue ocean world on the right wall and a nostalgic yellow view of green moss tiled roofs, roads and a shopping mall in the 80s on the other.

According the local residents, the fresco project has helped raise public awareness of keeping the living area clean. Vu Thi Thu Huong, Quarter 6 says, “I’m very happy to see the paintings here. The work is very meaningful”. The students have done the clean-up and paint nice pictures on the wall, says Nguyen Nam, Quarter 5.
“In early March, my school told us about the fresco painting project co-developed by my school and Ninh Hiep Ward in the Quarter 6. I love drawing so I registered to take part in the project,” says Student Pham Le Truc Nguyen, Class 12/C3, Nguyen Trai High School.
Before drawing, the young artists spent 2 days tidying up the area and cleaning the walls. They work in groups, each with a specific drawing theme. The painting work is going to finish. They are all happy as they can help make the living area more beautiful.
Le Thanh Ninh, Secretary of the Quarter Ward 6, Ninh Hiep Ward says the fresco models have added attraction to many places. The Communist Party Cell of the residential quarter has collected local residents’ opinions; built and submitted a project to the ward People's Committee for approval. Receiving the consent of local residents and authorities, the Communist Party Cell is determined to implement the project.
The work was first halted due to lack of funding. VND20 million is from the contribution from locals, sponsors and the support of the ward People's Committee while VND40 million is required for painting a 100m picture on the 2 walls.
Thanks to the support of Nguyen Trai High School, especially the participating students, the project has been implemented. When the work is finished, local residents will install lightings to illuminate the paintings at night. The work is nearing completion. The residential quarter plans to assign the wall art to the ward organization for management.
