High schools and regular education centers in Khanh Hoa Province reopened on March 2 after closure for several days to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Many preventive measures have been taken to ensure the safety of students.
 
Hygiene guidance
 
The first lesson after many days off school was about Covid-19 prevention. Nguyen Thi Hanh, 10A4 class form teacher, Ly Tu Trong High School, Nha Trang City, asked 3 students to make presentations about the disease. Hygiene guidance has been given in various forms, including leaflets, illustration photos, etc. 
 
Most students are aware of the disease prevention. Hoang  Tho Anh, Class 10A8 says, “I have meals at home and wear face masks at school to protect myself from being exposed to the disease infection.”

Truong Minh Trinh, Vice-Principal of Ly Tu Trong High School says at present, school flag meetings are temporarily postponed. During the closure period, school clean up and disinfection was conducted 6 times. 10 more hand-washing basins with soaps were added. The clean up and disinfection are maintained regularly after school. Epidemic prevention measures continue to be taken under the guidance of the Department of Education & Training and recommendations of the health sector. 
 
More than 600 students of iSchool Nha Trang have also returned to school after a temporary closure period to prevent Covid-19. Together with body temperature checks, face masks are delivered to students and teachers for free. Teachers and school guards have given the disease-related guidance to students on arrival at school. The medical room is open for any emergencies. Earlier, all classrooms and the surface of desks, door knobs, etc had been cleaned and disinfected. 
 
Tran Cao Van High School, Ninh Hoa Town has reminded students of ways to help prevent the spread of the disease, including covering cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throwing the tissue in a bin; not bringing food or drink into class and keeping the school tidy. Classrooms are cleaned up with soaps at least twice a week on Wednesday and Saturday. Desks with drawers and all surfaces are wiped out to reduce the spread of Covid-19.
 
Preparedness and contingency plans 
 
650/658 students of Le Quy Don Gifted High School, Nha Trang City went back to school on March 2. Four hundred students took a bus. More than 120 are boarders. Principal Nguyen Tho Minh Quang says the school has asked the bus operator to disinfect buses under the guidance of the heath sector. Besides, food safety and hygiene and regular classroom clean-up have been assured.
 
Tran Nhat Hoang, Class 11 Chemistry says, “We are informed of the disease prevention, so we avoid close contact and most wear face masks on the bus to stay safe. Hand sanitizer is also available in class for use. I also have my own in my school bag for use whenever in need."
 
Khanh Hoa Boarding Ethnic Minority School and Lac Long Quan High School in Khanh Vinh District have focused on assuring food hygiene and safety of meals served to boarders. Before the school reopening day, Khanh Hoa Department of Education & Training had undertaken many inspection visits to schools to make sure proper clean-up and disinfection. School staff have also been provided epidemic prevention and control training.
 
6 inspection missions have paid inspection visits on March 2 to high schools and regular education centers to double-check the current situation to make sure safety for students as well as listen to students and their parents’ opinions and aspirations. It is understandable that there should be a level of concern among students and their parents. Prevention and control guidance continues to be boosted to effectively respond to the disease as well as help avoid unnecessary panic, according to Le Dinh Thuan, Vice-Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Education & Training.
