Over the past years, child protection and care have improved in Khanh Hoa Province, helping to ensure a safe and sound environment for children to learn, play and develop. However, cases of childhood injuries and accidents have still happened.
According to Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs, in 2019, there were 40 child injuries and 26 child deaths from drowning. Common accidents included burns, falling, traffic crash, food poisoning, animal bites and others.
Therefore, the plan on preventing children from accidents and injuries in Khanh Hoa, period 2016-2020, has focused on propaganda and education to raise public awareness of the prevention of injury, accidents and drowning for children.

Meanwhile, the department has built models on building safe homes, safe schools and safe communities, preventing children from accidents, injuries and drowning.Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has cooperated with local agencies to issue more than 3,000 leaflets on child protection and care; 4,300 leaflets on child injury and accident prevention for kids; 3,200 leaflets on child protection against violence in communities and schools; organize over 500 talks on traffic accident prevention with the participation of more than 154,500 students, contributing to providing safety knowledge and skills related to road traffic accidents in children.
Vo Binh Tan, Vice-Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs says the department organizes training courses for its cadres and collaborators on child prevention and care to provide knowledge and skills against child injuries and accidents in communities and families every year. Since 2019, more than 30 courses funded by the central and local budgets have been held for more than 1,000 child protection and care officials.
