After the Prime Minister’s Instructions No. 16 on urgent measures against COVID-19, including 15 days of nationwide social distancing beginning on April 1 was issued, many local residents rushed to supermarkets on late March 31 to buy food and other essentials.

“The number of shoppers increased as there was a false rumor that supermarkets would shut down as a result of the instruction. The supermarket still remains open during the 15 days of nationwide social distancing. More fresh food, including port, beef, fish and vegetables will be added, ten-fold increase, compared with normal days. Instant noodles and rice will also be added from the depot in Ho Chi Minh City.

A representative of Big C Nha Trang Supermarket says the number of shoppers to the market was up by 20% on March 31. The supermarket still assures a sufficient supply of essentials," confirmed Vo Dinh Dung, Director of Co.opmart Nha Trang.
