Hundreds of disabled people, orphans, poor patients and those impacted by COVID-19 have received assistance from many benefactors, enterprises and organizations thanks to the link and resource mobilization of Khanh Hoa Sponsoring Association for the Disabled, Orphans & Poor Patients.

Khanh Hoa Sponsoring Association for the Disabled, Orphans & Poor Patients has just offered VND15 million to Khanh Hoa Rehabilitation Education Center for Disabled Children. “The assistance is valuable, especially during the tough time due to COVID-19. The aid will be used to improve meals and buy more study items,” said according to Phan Van Hiep, Director of Khanh Hoa Rehabilitation Education Center for Disabled Children.

Earlier, Khanh Hoa Sponsoring Association for the Disabled, Orphans & Poor Patients had cooperated with Sai Gon Nha Trang Hospital to visit and offer gifts worth VND200,00 each to 150 struggling families in Khanh Hiep Commune, Khanh Vinh District. Especially in late April and May during the COVID-19 social distancing in Khanh Hoa, the association sought donations to offer rice and other necessities to the needy with 150 gifts, each containing 3kg of rice and 10 chicken eggs given each day. Of the sum, 75 gifts were given to poor families and the remaining to those out of work due to COVID-19 impacts. The charity program lasted for nearly 1 month, helping thousands of disadvantaged people get through the hard time.

Truong Tan Minh, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Sponsoring Association for the Disabled, Orphans & Poor Patients says this year, the subscription mobilization has met difficulties due to impacts of COVID-19. The subscription in 8 months of 2020 decreased by 1/5 compared with the same period last year, more than VND500 million. The funding has gone to the purchase of necessities worth nearly VND300 million for more than 6,200 people impacted by COVID-19; grants and gifts to nearly 1,000 disabled people, poor patients; and monthly allowances for 20 children with special needs.

From now to the end of the year, the association plans to continue cooperating with local and foreign organizations, businesses and benefactors to provide assistance for the disabled, orphans and poor patients in Khanh Hoa; finance cataract surgery for 200 visually impaired people, offer 100 medical insurance cards to poor students, fund charity kitchens at hospitals; repair and construct 5 houses for the needy; sponsor 20 disabled children; present 20 scholarships to orphan and poor students; offer gifts to 500 poor patients; and provide vocational training and financial aid for 40 people with disabilities.
