Khanh Hoa Traffic Safety Board has issued a plan to organize activities in response to the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.
The 2020 event is scheduled to be observed on Sunday, November 15. Several activities are scheduled to take place, delivering messages of “Remember those who died and support those who survived”, according to Nguyen Trong Hien, Chief of Provincial Traffic Safety Board Office.
Many groups of activities will be held in response to the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims such as propaganda to raise public awareness of the purpose and meaning of the Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims; loss, damage and other sufferings of traffic victims and their families; call for support and sharing from the community; give warnings of road traffic accident risks and consequences; provide road safety measures; and increase road users' responsibilities and compliance with traffic rules.
The propaganda is scheduled from October 26 to November 15 through mass media publications. Visual propaganda is encouraged with banners, leaflets, photo exhibitions, meetings, parades, dialogues, forums and talks about causes and severe consequences of traffic accidents and prevention measures.
This year’s messages include “Safety is first”, “Remember those who died and support those who survived”; “Don’t drink and drive”, “No reckless driving and speeding”, “Wear helmets on motorbikes”, “Don’t use cell phones while driving” and “Keep in the correct lanes”.
Schools in Khanh Hoa will observe one minute’s silence at a flag ceremony on Monday (Novermber 9) in memory of those killed in road traffic accidents; and broadcast traffic safety messages before and after school time for 1 week on November 9-14.
Khanh Hoa leaders and the local Traffic Safety Boards will pay visits to victims and their families. The local Traffic Safety Board will also call local departments, agencies; political and social organizations, businesses and benefactors to visit and provide support for disadvantaged families of traffic accident victims, especially those lost their life. The Provincial Traffic Safety Board will donate VND20 million/ locality to families of road traffic casualties in 8 districts and towns; and visit people being treated at Khanh Hoa General Hospital for injuries in traffic accidents
This year, due to COVID-19 impacts, requiems for the victims who lost their life in traffic accidents may be held in October with adherence to coronavirus prevention and control guidelines.
