A variety of activities for the 2021 Lunar New Year get-together program held by the Trade Union at all levels are under way in Khanh Hoa, bringing warmth and festive atmosphere to Trade Union members and workers in need.
Sharing laborers’ difficulties
The 2021 Lunar New Year get-together program took place in Suoi Dau Industrial Zone, Cam Lam District. More than 200 workers in need, having occupational diseases or accidents and those impacted by Covid-19 were together enjoying a musical show praising the Communist Party, Uncle Ho, the spring season and homeland. Especially, they received gifts, lucky money and greetings from the Provincial Trade Union. Tran Thi Xe, a worker of Rapexco Dai Nam Company, Ltd., said, “This is the first time I have joined the event together with other workers in a warm and joyful atmosphere. We are also given gifts, lucky money and other aid for the upcoming Lunar New Year.” Her family is in a difficult situation. Her husband died young of an illness. The whole family lives on her monthly salary of more than VND4 million. Her income has been even cut due to Covid-19 impacts.

Vo Binh Nguyen, a worker of Komega-X Company, Ltd. said, “My husband and I are working in the same company, earning over VND5 million a month. We are struggling to make ends meet for the family of 4. This Lunar New Year, we don’t have any bonus due to the pandemic impacts. We are happy to receive the aid and gifts for Tet.”
The Lunar New Year get-together program held by Nha Trang City Labor Federation has brought hilarious atmosphere and festive spring season to more than 150 Trade Union members and employees in need. Receiving a relief aid from the Trade Union, Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, a staff at a trade center in Nha Trang City said, “We have to stay off work in turns due to Covid-19 impacts. Our income has dropped to only VND2 million a month, putting us in severe financial hardship."
Warmth for those far from home
Tet is surely a great opportunity for family reunion for those working far from home. However, some are unable to return to their homes outside Khanh Hoa Province. The Lunar New Year get-together program is to help them to partly ease their homesickness.
This is the third Lunar New Year Nguyen Thi Dinh, a worker of United Swimwear Apparel Co., Ltd. hasn’t been back to her home town in Bac Giang Province to be with her parents and relatives. She misses her family but she has to accept because of financial hardship and the pandemic outbreak as well. “Though not close to our families during the holiday, we can take part in the Lunar New Year program held by the Trade Union. This is really a meaningful activity, bringing us warmth and joyfulness when the spring season comes. Here we receive gifts and much encouragement to overcome difficulties,” she added.
In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic had great impacts on the work, income and life of employees. Therefore, the Trade Union at all levels has expanded the campaign “Trade Union is present anywhere workers are in need” to support their Lunar New Year celebration. This year, Khanh Hoa Provincial Trade Union has extracted its funds and sought donations to buy more than 2,000 gifts for laborers during Tet. Especially, many agencies, namely provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Khanh Hoa Bank for Social Policies, Vietinbank Khanh Hoa, etc have connected with the provincial Trade Union to donate nearly VND500 million to the charity activity. After the Lunar New Year get-together program, the provincial Trade Union will continue offering 270 gifts worth VND1 million each to Trade Union members and workers in need, according to Bui Thanh Binh, Chairman of the Provincial Labor Confederation.
