Upon the recent Covid-19 prevention and control inspection in Khanh Son District, Nguyen Khac Toan, Permanent Vice-Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee has requested the locality to proactively implement prevention and control measures; continue boosting propaganda to raise public awareness of the pandemic to avoid underestimation or too anxiety, meeting the dual goals of epidemic control and  economic growth.

Propaganda boosted

Khanh Son District Medical Center has ensured health declaration and patient separation for all arrivals; inspection, supervision and supplement to the criteria for Covid-19 safe hospitals. Medical stations in communes and townships have assigned 2 staff in charge of  preventive supervision and 1 for Covid-19 screening. All State agencies have hand sanitizer and face masks available for use; and undergo body temperature checks at the entrance. All shoppers are asked to wear facemasks, use hand sanitizer and have body temperature check before entering markets. “At first, I find it quite inconvenient but now I get used to it. I must strictly follow the regulations to protect myself from the disease,” said Bo Bo Thi Ha, a resident in Xa Boi Village, Son Hiep Commune.

In the district, many banners about the Ministry of Health's “5K” guidelines,  Covid-19 information and fines for violation are put up in easily seen places. The district has frequently and continuously propagandized Covid-19 prevention and control via radiobroadcasts in the district, focusing on the Ministry of Health's “5K” guidelines and recommendations; health declaration via Bluezone app, use of face masks when going outside and in crowded places; and fines for violation of pandemic regulations in order to improve public awareness of pandemic prevention and control. The District Medical Center has provided training for staff of medical stations in communes and townships to help residents with medical declaration on smart phones, according to Nguyen Van Nhuan, Chairman of Khanh Son District People’s Committee.

Medical supplies assured

The Steering Board for Disease Control in Khanh Son District has regularly, proactively monitored, and responded to actual situations. The District Health Center has consolidated two emergency response mobile teams and established a logistics team for Covid-19 prevention and control.

The district has arranged a screening clinic at the Department of Infectious Diseases (under the District Health Center), and assigned 1 doctor and 1 nurse to perform initial screening. Suspected cases will be monitored and isolated at the Department of Infectious Diseases; and tested for the novel coronavirus. If positive with Covid-19, the patient will be transferred to Son Lam Regional General Clinic for monitoring, isolation and treatment.

Son Lam Regional General Clinic has also performed patient  separation, monitoring, treatment and infection control of SARS-CoV-2; arranged a separate area for patients; and ensured medicines, ventilators and other medical supplies available for emergency and treatment. In addition, the district has also prepared centralized quarantine areas in district military facilities as resources for quarantine capacity at medical facilities.

Khanh Son District Medical Center has prepared sufficient medication, medical equipment and chemicals for Covid-19 treatment, prevention and control. Currently, the center has 2 invasive ventilators, 2 non-invasive ventilators, 1 mobile  X-ray machine, 2 patient monitoring machines; ECG and pulse oximeters and testing devices at hospitals and general clinics.

The Medical Center has also proposed the Department of Health to buy medication following the list of medication and chemicals for Covid-19 treatment; check, estimate and report the need for medical equipment and chemicals to the Provincial Center for Disease Control for supply as regulated; receive and distribute means of epidemic prevention and control to affiliations and mobile teams, according to Dr. Ho Ngoc Gia, Director of Khanh Son District Medical Center.
