"Peaceful family - Happy society” is the theme of 2021 Vietnamese Family Day and the Action Month against Family Violence. Instead of organizing exchange activities, this year due to the Covid-19, Khanh Hoa Department of Culture and Sport has boosted propaganda for building family happiness and tightening family bonds, adhering to the pandemic prevention and control regulations.

Tightening family bonds

The Covid-19 has changed life of many families. However, the pandemic may be turned into an opportunity for many homes to promote family values and members to become more attached during moments spending together that they rarely had before.

The family members of Nguyen Thi Hoa in Vinh Luong Commune, Nha Trang seldom eat meals together due to different work and study schedules. During the Covid-19 crisis, her 2 children are at home and thus all people in her family can enjoy more time together than ever before. “We prepare meals while my children are entertained around us. We take advantage of the time together to teach them gardening and help us with the chores. They can also learn more essential life skills,” said Nguyen Thi Hoa.

Abiding to the pandemic prevention and control regulations, Mai Van Long, Phuoc Hai Ward, Nha Trang City, always comes home after work instead of having some drink out with friends like before. His family environment is thus filled with coziness when everyone is together cooking, doing chores and having fun. “We are so worried that Covid-19 cases keep rising. Coming home after work helps protect the health of myself, my family and the community from the pandemic. Peaceful, safe and healthy families can create happiness and secure feelings to develop other life values,” he said.

Visual propaganda boosted

Nha Trang City has held online training classes on family tasks to improve family tasks and family violence prevention and control in wards and communes. Nha Trang City Division of Culture and Information has focused on various themes such as families following Uncle Ho’s teaching, Vietnamese cultural family with patriotic tradition and struggle for national liberation; Vietnamese cultural family with new rural construction, etc. During the on-going Covid-19 pandemic, online training has been provided for not only family task officials but also anyone who want to get knowledge about family care and exchange with other cultural families, according to Nguyen Thi Cam Trang, Deputy Chief of Nha Trang City Division of Culture and Information.

The enhanced information technology application in family task training and visual propaganda amid the pandemic has facilitated grassroots agencies to strengthen communication with better access to direct, effective and adequate information. To improve efficiency in family tasks, besides improving legal awareness, each home needs to contribute to keeping the family more peaceful and the society happier, according to Le Van Hoa, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Culture & Sports.
