Covid-19 has left thousands of people in Khanh Hoa Province out of work. Besides processing applications for unemployment benefits, Khanh Hoa Job Center has also promoted career counseling and job recommendations, linking job seekers and employers.
 
Focus on processing of applications for unemployment benefits
 
The resurgence of Covid-19 has forced many hotels to shut down. Having lost her job, Le Thi Hong Hoa, Phuoc Long Ward, Nha Trang City has applied for unemployment benefits at Khanh Hoa Job Center. “Without work and income, my family suffers great financial hardship. Therefore, I have sent my claim for unemployment benefits and received nearly VND3 million per month, which helps me partly get through the tough time. The processing is fast and simple,” she said.
 
Nguyen Van Kha, Director of Khanh Hoa Job Center says thousands of people have been hit by layoffs as a result of temporary closure of many businesses due to Covid-19. Khanh Hoa Job Center sometimes has to work at a full workload dealing with a surge in claims for unemployment benefits. More than 30 staff have been mobilized to help the grants soon reach the unemployed who are struggling with the pandemic impact. 
 
In addition, the center has built 3 branch offices in Cam Lam District, Cam Ranh City and Ninh Hoa Town together with 2 other locations in Khanh Son District and Khanh Vinh District to accelerate the processing of claims for unemployment benefits. In 2020, the center received and handled some 24,200 claims for unemployment benefits on schedule. Since the beginning of 2021, the center has received and processed some 6,600 applications.

Promoting job link
 
Over years, the center has focused on providing consultancy and employment connection between job seekers and businesses. Job fairs are held weekly at the center, show-casing vacancies in 5-10 local companies. Besides, the center has also held job fairs in districts and towns to provide link between employers and job-seekers. In the first 6 months of 2021, the city has opened 5 job fairs and 1 job day, providing access to work opportunities for more than 200 people. Moreover, job consultancy and recommendation have been provided via such channels as the Internet, zalo, facebook and phone calls.
 
Furthermore, the center has also focused on providing guidance and employment link for those applying for unemployment benefits, helping them soon get back to work. In 2020, the center provided employment link and guidance for more than 21,000 people, over 2,400 of whom were employed. Since the beginning of the year, the center has provided job consultancy for more than 7,000 people; vocational training and career orientation for more than 5,400 people. 1,600 have been recruited thanks to the job link and recommendation.
 
Due to the unprecedented outbreak, the center will focus on accelerating the processing of applications for unemployment benefits and sharing vacancies for job recommendations and counselling; and open job fairs to help employers and job-seekers to meet for interviews.
