Medical care and house construction aid

Thanks to the aid from Khanh Hoa Sponsoring Association for the Disabled, Orphans & Poor Patients, the worn-down house of a poor family of Cao Lia in Ta Giang 1 Village, Thanh Son Commune, Khanh Son District has been reconstructed. The construction, 50m2, is worth nearly VND100 million. With unstable income, the family of 3 children live from hand to mouth and finds it impossible to rebuild the house.

In April, through the call of Khanh Hoa Sponsoring Association for the Disabled, Orphans & Poor Patients, many people donated aid to 2 kids aged 6 and 2. 6-year-old Le Thuy Vy in Suoi Hiep Commune, Dien Khanh District was offered VND5 million for her medical treatment. She suffered from septic shock, hemorrhagic fever, pneumonia and severe organ failure. Her father has gone, so the little girl is living with her mom who has just had a severe accident and cannot work to earn money. Then, all the financial burden is on her grandma who has little earning from her selling vegetables. The other kid, 2-year-old Bo Bo Minh Diep in Khanh Son District, is suffering from inguinal hernia. His family couldn’t afford his surgery. Thanks to VND19 million aid, Bo Bo Minh Diep has recovered from the surgery.

Promoting charity activities

Through the connection, funding mobilization and donation of many individuals and organizations, for the first 6 months of 2021, Khanh Hoa Sponsoring Association for the Disabled, Orphans & Poor Patients has provided assistance totaling nearly VND630 million for nearly 1,000 poor, disabled people and orphans.

Accordingly, the association has financed heart surgeries on 118 poor patients, construction of 2 houses; granted 57 scholarships to poor students and gifts to nearly 1,000 poor patients and visually impaired people; donated washing machines and driers to nursery scholarships in Thanh Son Commune, Khanh Son District; and provided vocational training and created jobs for 9 people. Besides, the association has held sessions to propagandize the State policies regarding people with disabilities and orphans through leaflets and talks; provided information about common diseases and Covid-19 pandemic and prevention measures for members of the associations for the blind, disabled, etc.

Due to the on-going Covid-19, the Sponsoring Association for the Disabled, Orphans & Poor Patients has faced great difficulties in raising funds for charity activities. In early 2021, the association organized a Gala night reviewing activities for the community, including charity fundraising auctions. VND58 proceeds from the sales were donated to the charity fund to buy New Year gifts for policy beneficiaries.

From now to the end of the year, the association will continue promoting charity activities, including financing cataract and heart surgeries for poor patients; developing charity kitchens at hospitals in the province, donating wheelchairs to people with disabilities, granting scholarships to poor students and orphans; providing capital support for economic development, etc., according to Truong Tan Minh, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Sponsoring Association for the Disabled, Orphans & Poor Patients.
