“What to eat today?” can be a tough question and headache to many housewives. For that reason, shopping service has come into being, helping many families save time preparing meals.

Fast and convenient

Receiving food from the shopping service at 11:am, Ngoc Nu, An Vien villa area, Nha Trang City was able to get lunch onto a plate with crab soup with vegetables; braised meat with eggs, sweet and sour beef, fried asparagus with garlic  within nearly 30 minutes. She is over head and ears in doing chores and taking care of 3 children every day. Her husband is also busy with his work, so he can’t help her much with the housework. “What to eat for tomorrow?” is a tricky question every day. She has learnt about the shopping service of the Ha Ha Cook shop from her friend. She orders the shopping service whenever she is busy.

Similarly, Minh Hang at Vinh Diem Trung Urban Area, Nha Trang City has little time preparing meals because she is very busy working as a banking agent and taking care of 2 kids while her husband is working far from home. Therefore, she often eats out. She knew about the shopping service 3 months ago. She only has to send a shopping list via zalo or select one of suggested menus with recipes available. She only has to pay an extra of VND10,000/ list for shopping and delivery.

Shopping service booming

To fulfill both work and home duties, many have to get up very early going shopping and then rushing home to prepare lunch after work. The shopping service has further met customer expectations. The service “online shopping for your same-day lunch and dinner” at Ha Ha Cook Shop on Ly Tu Trong Street, “shopping service in Nha Trang City” on Ha Thanh Street, Van Thang Ward; and My Tam Food on Dong Nai Street, Nha Trang City have helped ease the shopping burden with navigating around stores, processing food, making menu recommendations for nutritious meals, etc.

Customers simply select dishes and place orders the night before over the phones, specifying the number of diners. The shopping service also gives menu recommendations. Cooking ingredients which are fresh, preliminarily processed and salted, will be delivered straight to customers. Therefore, customers only need some 20 minutes to prepare a meal.

“The shopping service began in early June and has become known to many. We receive shopping orders for lunch before 9am and dinner before 4pm every day. The food is fresh and the delivery is on schedule as agreed. Products of bad quality can be refunded,” said Tran Nguyen Hoai Thuong, a manager of Ha Ha Cook Shop.

At some food sections at big supermarkets such as Co.opmart, Lotte, Go!...  in Nha Trang City, there are various kinds of preliminarily processed food available for cooking. They include braised fish; marinated tuna; pre-processed chicken wings; Henicorhynchus fish sauce; bitter melon, squash, tomatoes with meat; or vegetables for stir-fry, soup, etc.

A supermarket agent says preliminarily processed food has recently become popular. Le Khanh Chau, Phuoc Hai Ward, Nha Trang City, a customer service staff said, “I come home from work very late, so I often buy preliminarily processed food at the supermarket near my house. There are a variety of preliminarily processed food wrapped in foam boxes and well preserved in fridge. It helps save my cooking time."

Although preliminarily processed food is 10 - 15% more expensive, many customers choose it to save time for taking care of their children and themselves. To satisfy customers’ needs, supermarkets are enhancing the shopping service convenience with commitment to food safety and hygiene, especially with food delivery to home or workplace.
