Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee has directed local sectors and departments to enhance rapid Covid-19 testing on a large scale. Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee has also approved RT-PCR testing service for organizations and individuals.

As Khanh Hoa is facing the risk of Covid-19 spread, Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee has requested the health sector to cooperate with localities to conduct rapid Covid-19 testing for high-risk groups, initially at markets and in quarantined areas. Khanh Hoa Department has ordered 10,000 test kits as assigned by Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee. However, all the test kits cannot be delivered once due to the supply shortage.
Earlier, Dinh Van Thieu, Vice-Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee had asked relevant agencies and departments to survey the demand for rapid Covid-19 testing together with large-scale monitoring by rapid testing, currently focusing in places reported with positive cases, workplaces, industrial zones, industrial clusters, State servants, etc.; the Department of Health to get well prepared for the implementation of response plans and work with Khanh Hoa Medical College to get volunteer students or medical staff of other localities to engage in the pandemic control effort in case of the lack of workforce.
1.000 test kits have been delivered to Ninh Hoa Town for Covid-19 testing in some medical quarantine areas, markets, etc. Some suspected cases of community infection have been detected from the large-scale testing.

RT-PCR testing priority for high-risk groups
Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee has recently approved Khanh Hoa Center for Disease Control (CDC) to perform RT-PCR testing service for organizations and individuals. Priority is given to drivers traveling long distances to ensure flow of trade and travelers in need of being certified negative for SARS-CoV-2 testing for getting out of the province.
Covid-19 containment and contact tracing are among the key tasks of the health sector. RT-PCR testing is mainly for monitoring for the pandemic control. Therefore, high-risk groups are given priority. RT-PCR testing is not recommended for everyone as it may cause waste and pressure on the health sector, affecting the fight against the epidemic.
According to the Department of Health, Khanh Hoa has an RT-PCR testing capacity of 5,000 samples/day; even 10,000 with the support of Pasteur Nha Trang Institute. Besides Khanh Hoa CDC, Military Hospital 87 is going to conduct RT-PCR testing.
RT-PCR testing costs VND734,000/time. The testing location is at 4 Quang Trung, Nha Trang City. Results are issued late in the afternoon on the same day for samples taken before 9am; For samples taken later, results are issued the next day, according to Huynh Van Dong, Director of Khanh Hoa CDC.
