Khanh Hoa has seen a high number of recovered Covid-19 people which outnumber new cases in recent days. Dr. Bui Xuan Minh, Director of the Department of Health, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Human Disease Prevention and Control has shared some more information about Covid-19 response in prevention, treatment and care.
 
Since late June, 15 Covid-19 treatment facilities, including 7 makeshift hospitals and 3 general clinics with 3,610 beds in total have been founded in Khanh Hoa. Specifically, the makeshift hospital No.1 has 100 beds; makeshift hospital No.2 and subsidiary have 600 beds; makeshift hospital No. 3: 150 beds; makeshift hospital No.4 and its subsidiary: 1,000 beds; makeshift hospital No.5 and its subsidiary: 180 beds; makeshift hospital No.6 and its subsidiary: 350 beds; makeshift hospital No.7 and its subsidiary:  1,100 beds; Dien Phuoc General Clinic, Tu Bong and The Department of Infection Control, Ninh Hoa General Hospital: 130 beds.
 
The Department of Health has classified treatment into 3 levels for those with no symptoms or mild; moderate; and severe or critical symptoms as regulated by the Ministry of Health. The makeshift hospital No.1 at Khanh Hoa Hospital of Tropical Diseases is the highest level of treatment for severe and critical patients. Khanh Hoa Department of Health has added 17 doctors and 38 nurses to the medical staff  specialized in in emergency medicine to the makeshift hospital No.1; the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases has sent leading medical staff in severe Covid-19 patients to support the makeshift t hospital. Besides, the department has also installed a system of liquid oxygen (3,000l) and provided more medical equipment such as ventilators, RT-PCR testing devices, patient monitors, coagulation testing machines, etc.
 
Makeshift hospitals in Khanh Hoa are treating more than 1,990 Covid-19 patients. The patients with no or mild symptoms account for nearly 93%, moderate symptoms: nearly 3%, severe: 2,6%, or critical: 1,6%. Since July 22, the total recovered cases have reached more than 3.300, making up over half of infections. The average age of Covid-19 deaths is 66.6 (the youngest: 45, the oldest: 92) and many of them have other health problems such as hypertension, diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular diseases.
 
Since the first case was detected in the 4th wave of coronavirus, Khanh Hoa Department has predicted the high risk of infection spread. Therefore, the department had asked the Ministry of Health to send more experts to support the treatment of severe cases in the province and more staff at makeshift hospitals. 41 doctors and 80 nurses have been added to Covid-19 treatment at hospitals in the province.
 
Through the treatment with hands-on training provided by the higher level of care, the medical staff at makeshift hospitals, especially those in charge of treatment of serious and critical patients, have gained much experience in patient monitoring, care and treatment; efficiently helping reduce severity of symptoms.
 
Khanh Hoa has planned to set up more makeshift hospitals located at Ninh Hoa General Hospital, Dien Khanh Traditional Medicine & Rehabilitation Hospital, Dien Khanh Medical Center with 250 beds each; the dormitory of Nha Trang Technology College (Provincial Military Headquarters are in charge of this area) with 500 beds and 300 beds at 76 Pham Tu Street, Nha Trang, bringing the total of beds for Covid-19 patients in total in Khanh Hoa to 5,090.
 
Khanh Hoa Department of Health has made a Covid-19 response plan in case infections hit 5,000-10,000 in Khanh Hoa in an attempt to ensure sufficient medical supplies and human resources at treatment facilities and field hospitals to improve treatment quality, especially for severe and critical patients; and minimize mortality rates in Covid-19 patients.
