With the back-to-school season approaching during the ongoing Covid-19 wave, schools in Nha Trang City have to make some adjustments in preparation, especially for the enrolment for a new school year.

Both parents and schools are anxious

Nguyen Thi Minh Thu, Phuoc Hai Ward says so she is so anxious as her child is going to enter the first grade. Nha Trang is under Covid-19 social isolation, so she cannot go out to buy books, notebooks and pens to prepare for her study. Parents used to prepare a lot of things for children to start a new grade but until now, they have not done anything about it because of the stay-at-home order.

Schools used to have finished all classroom repair and renovation to welcome students by early August. But this year, the work has been suspended due to the surge of Covid-19 with the enrolment not yet finished.

“There is a growing concern about classroom repair, enrolment and teaching staff’s professional development as well before the start of a new school year. There will be difficulties for teachers and students if the new school year begins late,” said Huynh Thi Thu Hien, Principle of Phuoc Long 2 Primary School.

According to Phan Thi Thao Uyen,  Principal of Thai Nguyen Secondary School, the resurgence of Covid-19 has had significant impacts on the preparation for the new school year. During the social isolation period, the school has developed a flexible and suitable professional development plan for teachers, requiring regular self-training in accordance with the actual situation.

To ensure the pandemic prevention and control regulations, the Division of Education & Training has required schools to follow the instructions to avoid gatherings during the enrolment process. Many schools have taken good advantage of social networks and e-mails to give instructions about online application.
