Vingroup has just donated 30 Covid-19 breathalyzer test devices to the Ministry of Health in the fight against the pandemic, according to the Ministry of Science & Technology. The testing devices are manufactured by Breathonix Company based in Singapore to detect the Covid-19 virus in an individual’s exhaled breath.

The testing uses artificial intelligence (AI) technology to detect biochemical changes in the breath to detect the COVID-19 virus, giving results in less than a minute with an accuracy rate of over 90%. Breathonix’s Covid-19 breath test system has been  authorized by the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) of Singapore.

The test comprises a disposable single-use mouthpiece, a breath sampler and a mass spectrometer. Users exhale into the mouthpiece, with their breath being collected by the sampler. The captured air is fed into the spectrometer and analyzed. A positive result with the breath test is recommended to be confirmed by a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.
