The Covid-19 pandemic has been basically under control in Khanh Hoa Province thanks to drastic and prompt measures. Khanh Hoa has gone more than 2 weeks without a community Covid-19 case and new cases detected in blockaded areas are on a dramatical decline. There has been much advance in Covid-19 treatment and recovery, said Nguyen Tan Tuan, Deputy Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee on September 23.
7,572 cases positive for SARS-CoV-2 have been detected in Khanh Hoa since June 23 and 6,980 have been recovered accounting for 92.2%; 91.5% of the remaining patients have mild or no symptoms. The Covid-19 vaccination is being speeded up with 753,303 first doses, accounting for 83.54% and 82,123 second shots, making up 9.11%.
The campaign "All people get engaged in keeping the community safe from Covid-19" has proved effective with “green zones” expanding and “red zones” narrowing. Out of 968 villages and quarters in the province, there are 802 “green zones”, accounting nearly 82.9%; 62 “yellow”, 28 “orange” and 46 “red zones”. Therefore, coronavirus restrictions are scheduled to be further eased in Khanh Hoa from September 24.
According to Chairman Nguyen Tan Tuan, allthough the Covid-19 pandemic is under control, the risks are still high, so the interprovincial and inter-district Covid-19 check-points will maintain to keep on stringent checks on travelers from coronavirus-hit areas to Khanh Hoa and restrict unnecessary travel between districts. However, to facilitate people to travel and get back to work, the province has directed district-level authorities to remove check-points between communes and wards in the same districts and cities; enhance patrols for inspection of compliance with the Covi-19 control and prevention regulations, especially the 5K guidelines.
With the pandemic under control and “green zones” expanding, Khanh Hoa will issue a new Directive to further loosen Covid-19 restrictions, adapting to the specific situation. Accordingly, from September 24, residents will be allowed to do some physical exercise in parks and play sports such as tennis and golf outside.
Some businesses such as haircut; plumbing and electrical repairs, grocery stores are expected to be allowed to reopen upon condition that the owners have already registered with their ward or commune authorities and received permits.
All teaching staff of educational institutions in the province have been vaccinated; Most of them will have received the second doses for more than 14 days by mid October. Therefore, schools will be allowed to reopen for direct teaching after October 15. However, the staff not fully vaccinated will not come to school to assure safety.
A schedule for the gradual reopening of schools is needed, starting with high schools. If everything goes well after the week, primary schools will welcome kids back. During the period, no large gatherings, except for the teaching, are allowed at school to prevent the spread of the virus.
