Slutkii Boris, a Russian citizen, said, “I used to work for a travel company; however, our work and income are affected by Covid-19, leaving us difficulties in recent time. We are not allowed to go out under the social distancing restrictions. We are so happy to receive the gifts.” Ermakova Elena said, “Thank you very much for the assistance and the practical gifts. We have children, so we really need such vegetables and fruits.”

In mid August, Khanh Hoa Union of Friendship Organizations cooperated with the Provincial Youth Union, Department of Foreign Affairs, Internal Political Security Department and External Security Department (Khanh Hoa Public Security) offered 150 gifts to Russian citizens living in Nha Trang City. The group has come to many communes and wards where Russian people live to hand them the relief gifts.

The gifts are donated by Khanh Hoa Covid-19 Relief Center and some other agencies and  organizations in the province. They have joined hands to provide food assistance for Russian people during a tough time during Covid-19. These are good deeds representing solidarity and friendship of Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa residents towards Russian people living and working in Nha Trang City, according to Le Trung Hung, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Union of Friendship Organizations.

Reportedly, approximately 3,000 foreigners, including 780 Russian, are living and working in Khanh Hoa Province. Russian people mostly concentrate in Nha Trang City, working in tourism and service sectors and some as teachers of foreign languages. However, Covid-19 has had adverse impacts on their life, especially since the 4th wave of the coronavirus with social distancing restrictions to prevent the virus spread in Nha Trang City.

“Therefore, we would like to share the burden of the Russian people amid Covid-19. In the coming time, we will continue seeking further donations to help more foreigners in need in Nha Trang,” said Le Van Nghia, Member of the Executive Committee of the Provincial Association for Cultural Heritage Preservation and Spiritual Tourism.

Although still faced with difficulties during the pandemic, local residents are willing to provide aid for Russian people, contributing to lighting up Vietnamese traditional mutual support and cordiality towards the common goals of joining effort to overcome the pandemic.
