Khanh Hoa Association of the Elderly in cooperation with the National Association of the Elderly and HelpAge International (HAI) in Vietnam held a virtual conference VIE071 reducing income and health related vulnerability of older persons in Vietnam (VIE071 project) on September 28.
VIE071 project is sponsored by the government of Japan through Japan Social Development Fund entrusted to the World Bank. The project has been implemented in 6 cities and provinces, namely Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa, Quang Binh, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan. The project is committed to reducing income and health related vulnerability of older persons through activities to increase income and the use of health self-care and community-based health care services.
The project will be developed at 30 intergenerational self-help clubs with the participation of 3,500 seniors in the period 2021-2024. In 2021 alone, the project has provided VND130 million support/club for 10 clubs in Nha Trang City (6), Ninh Hoa (2) and Cam Lam (2).
Reportedly, 19 intergenerational self-help clubs have been founded across the province, contributing to promoting the well-being and assistance for the elderly.
