High school students in Nha Trang City are expected to return to school on October 25 after a period learning online. The education and training sector has taken many proactive measures to safely welcome students back.
Both in-person and online classes
To prepare for the return of students, schools have promptly implemented the pandemic prevention and control guidance of the province, city, the Department of Education & Training and the Department of Health and provided information for schools staff, students and their parents via websites, emails, Zalo, Facebook, etc. Sufficient equipment and facilities for the teaching and learning have been assured with Covid-19 rapid diagnostic testing for all teachers and students on October 23 and 24.

Truong Minh Trinh, Principal of Ly Tu Trong High School says both in-person and online classes will be conducted with 50% physical attendance in class and 50% joining virtual classrooms. Teachers may record their teaching in class or send files to students afterwards.
Nguyen Hien Junior High School will also conduct in-person and online classes. Besides propaganda, the school has also sent messages, made phone calls or posted information on the school website to keep students and their parents informed of updated school activities, students’ health, etc., said Phan Thanh Chung, Principal of Nguyen Hien Junior High School.
Assuring teaching and learning conditions
According to Phan Thanh Liem, Vice-Chairman of Nha Trang City People’s Committee, Covid-19 has been basically under control in Nha Trang City. Schools are instructed to urge students to wear face masks on the way to and from school and in class to protect their health. 100% of school staff, teachers and students are required to complete medical declaration and cooperate with the health care sector to promptly deal with any suspected cases of Covid-19. Many schools have taken proactive measures to assure school year curricula with plans on speeding up the school year schedule in response to the pandemic.
Nguyen Van Troi High School has 638 twelfth-graders in 15 classrooms. The high school seniors are expected to have both in-person and online classes from October 25 to November 7. Each classroom will have no more than 30 participants. The teaching will focus on knowledge and skills for the upcoming high school graduation exam. The school will adjust the professional work and schedule and check facilities in order to fulfil the school year curricula, said Huynh Vinh Khang, Principal of Nguyen Van Troi High School.
Vo Hoan Hai, Director of the Department of Education and Training, said that the department will regularly check and evaluate the teaching and the implementation of Covid-19 prevention and control measures at educational institutions to ensure sufficient conditions for epidemic response and safety of school staff, teachers and students. The Department has directed schools to strictly comply with professional requirements for knowledge and skill standards. The twelfth–grade teaching will continue in many appropriate forms, ensuring sufficient knowledge and skills required for the upcoming graduation exam.
The Department of Education and Training has asked schools to prepare medical isolation rooms in case there are students with uncommon cough and fever. Schools are advised to conduct body temperature checks at the entrance. Mass gatherings, extracurricular activities are suspended. Students are urged to relax and stay where they are during the break time.
