Khanh Hoa education sector together with local authorities are hastening preparation for the safe reopening of primary and nursery schools on November 1.
 
Ready to welcome pupils back
 
Classroom cleaning and disinfection are underway at Phuoc Hai 3 Primary School, Nha Trang City to complete the preparation for school reopening by this weekend. Phuoc Hai Primary 3 School has 27 classrooms with around 1,100 children. The school has specific plans for each grade level to safeguard the health and safety of children. The first-grade classes are divided into 2 groups, learning in the morning and afternoon. Other classes consist no more than 30 learners to assure safe distancing. School closing hours vary for each grade to avoid congestion and ensure safe distancing after school. More body temperature check devices and hand sanitizer are available for use at school, said Pham Thanh Huyen, Principal of Phuoc Hai Primary 3 School.

Tran Nguyen Lap, Chief of Nha Trang City Division of Education and Training says the preparation for the return of students is being accelerated together with inspection visits to schools. “Schools have made thorough preparation for the reopening. We will continue closely monitoring situations to get actual school attendance and then have guidance for the safe return to school on November 1," said Tran Nguyen Lap.
 
Van Ninh District has 14 public and 6 private nursery schools; and 25 primary schools. Bui Thi Bich Lien, Chief of Van Ninh District Division of Education and Training said 100% of primary and nursery schools in the district are scheduled to reopen on November 1. School cleaning and disinfection together with other preparations are underway to ensure a Covid-secure environment for learning and teaching. In addition, schools are getting ready with flexible teaching plans in adaptation to specific situations under the guidance of the Department of Education and Training.
 
To ensure that safety at school is the top priority, the Division of Education and Training conducted inspection on October 28 to check the preparation for in-person teaching and learning at schools. Educational facilities have satisfied Covid-19 safety criteria. In the first week back to school, schools are required to focus on re-acquainting children with the learning environment to keep them on track and  gradually move forward.
 
Khanh Vinh District Division of Education and Training undertook inspections at 16 nursery schools in the district on October 25-28. Bui Huu Hoa, Chief of Khanh Vinh District Division of Education and Training has provided consultancy for the district People’s Committee to issue decisions on reopening schools. SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic testing is scheduled on October 30 for all teachers and school staff to ensure a safe environment to welcome 3,200 nursery school kids back.
 
Ensuring Covid-19 safety measures
 
Vo Hoan Hai, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Education and Training said with steps taken to gradually reopen schools, the teaching and learning has been kept on track. High schools and regular education centers have continued in-person classes and the combination of in-person and online classes; abiding by safe distancing regulations to make schools Covid-secure. In the 3rd phase, primary and nursery schools are getting ready to welcome children back on November 1. 
 
Nursery schools achieving Covid-19 safety level based the Covid-19 safety criteria at school in the province are allowed to reopen with day boarding service. In-person learning at primary schools are allowed in compliance with distancing regulations.
 
The Department of Education and Training in cooperation with the Department of Health and localities has conducted SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic tests on school staff, teachers and pupils at primary schools; staff and teachers at nursery schools. The RT-PCR testing is scheduled on October 30 to get results in time for the school reopening. The department leaders have carried out inspection visits to schools. Schools and localities have achieved the preparation progress and met safety criteria for the safe return to school.
