Rail tickets for Lunar New Year 2022 is scheduled to go on sale as of 8am on November 15, 2021. The number of tickets is expected to plunge in sales compared with previous years due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The leader of Nha Trang Railway Transport Branch said the New Year train timetable is from January 20, 2021 to February 13, 2022 with 3 periods, before Tet from January 20, 2021 to February 13, 2022 (or from 20th to 29th day of the last lunar month of 2021), during Tet holiday from January 30 to February 3, 2022 (or from the 28th of the last lunar month to the 3rd day of the New Year); and after Tet from February 4, 2021 to February 13, 2022 (or from 4th to the 13th day of the New Year).
10% discount is offered during the first 10 days of the sale on November 15-25. Tickets bought before January 1, 2022 are 30% off the VAT or 2.7-3% off the price. The priority for New Year train tickets is given to those who have reserved their tickets in 2021 from November 4 to 4pm on November 12. The sale will begin at 8 am from November 15 to November 22. Passengers with reserved tickets in 2021 need to bring the tickets to booking offices to take the new ones for the New Year travel.

Earlier, the railway sector had announced the registration for New Year trains for groups until 4 pm on November 12. Priority is given to people's armed forces, universities, colleges, industrial parks, export processing zones, social organizations and passengers who have reserved tickets in 2021. Train tickets are available for groups of 5 or more/ round.
Passengers are required to show adequate identification documents to buy tickets to ensure their rights protected in case of such incidents as ticket loss, seat-reselling or ticket exchange or refund.
To assure safety for passengers, the railway sector has continued implementing Covid-19 measures on trains during the Tet holiday. Passengers are advised to buy tickets at the booking offices or agents managed by the Vietnam Railway sector to avoid fake or over-charged tickets.
