Under the Ministry of Health’s guidelines, Khanh Hoa Center for Disease Control (CDC) Khanh Hoa has submitted a plan to implement the vaccination campaign for 12 to 17-year-olds to the Provincial People’s Committee, said Huynh Van Dong, Director of CDC Khanh Hoa.

The vaccination target is 100% of young people aged 12 to 17 in Khanh Hoa fully vaccinated with the same kind of vaccines for both doses by the end of this year.

The specific time for the vaccination has not determined because it depends on the vaccine supply provided by the Ministry of Health. The vaccination will start as soon as vaccines come and proceed based on vaccines available.

Under the Ministry of Health’s guidance, the vaccination will begin with those aged 16 to 17 and move to younger ages. Based on the pandemic situation, we will provide consultancy for the provincial People’s Committee to have specific priority guidance for areas marked red, orange, yellow and green to meet optimal strategies for Covid-19 prevention and control.

128,449 kids are expected to be vaccinated against Covid-19. They include 113,774 students and 14,675 out-of-school ones with 42,772 kids in Nha Trang City, 13,777 in Van Ninh, 24,527 in Ninh Hoa, 13.311 in Dien Khanh, 11.409 in Cam Lam, 14,709 in Cam Ranh, 4,552 in Khanh Vinh and 3,392 in Khanh Son.

Basically, the vaccination campaign for kids will run in all communities in Khanh Hoa. The vaccines used for kids must be approved by the Ministry of Health. The vaccination will be at schools for students and at medical stations for others. Kids with underlying heath conditions will receive vaccine shots at hospitals.

To assure safe distancing to avoid the spread of coronavirus, the vaccination will be in various time frames in numerous vaccination sites. Those working within and outside the medical sector; military forces and police; political and social organizations and other agencies will be mobilized to support the vaccination campaign, ensuring the high vaccination coverage rate.

The preparation for the vaccination campaign in terms of infrastructures, equipment, vaccine cold chains and human force has completed. To assure vaccination safety, the CDC has provided training on the Ministry of Health’s vaccination procedures, including vaccine storage, transport and use; pre-vaccination screening; post-vaccination monitoring and health care; and emergency treatment for allergic reaction after vaccination.

Besides, at vaccination sites, sufficient human resources and supply of medications and equipment are assured for emergency care and treatment after vaccination.
