Khanh Hoa Public Security’s Traffic Police Department launched a concentrated inspection campaign from December 15, 2021 to February 14, 2022 to assure traffic safety, preventing and reducing traffic accidents during the New Year season 2022.
Khanh Hoa Public Security’s Traffic Police Department launched the concentrated inspection campaign on December 15, focusing on maintaining road traffic safety, imposing fines to traffic rule violations to facilitate travel and transportation during the coming year-end festive season in safe and flexible adaption and response to Covid-19.
Senior Lieutenant Colonel Phan Van Cuong, Chief of Khanh Hoa Public Security’s Traffic Police Department says traffic police will mobilize forces for inspection patrol to prevent and impose fines to such traffic rule offences as illegal racing, focusing on drunk driving, drug–impaired driving, speeding, illegal parking, wrong-way driving, driving without a driver’s license, overloading, violating pick up and drop off regulations; vehicle expiration, etc.
Surveillance cameras, vehicle capacity scales and modern technical devices have been equipped to promote traffic rule enforcement. The inspection will be mainly on the National Highway 1, National Highway 26, National Highway 27C, National Highway 26B, etc.
Regarding rail transportation, traffic troopers will partner with local authorities and rail officials to conduct rail crossing inspections at crossings without guards or in locations where people often trespass or cross tracks illegally; ensure traffic rule enforcement, etc. Especially, technical safety checks at crossings with automatic signals will be conducted.
As for inland waterway travel, the inspection will focus on cargo transportation, exploitation of mineral resources, passenger transportation along rivers on fixed routes, ports, etc., specifically, vehicle operation conditions, regulations for ports, crew and drivers; exploitation of mineral resources, passenger and cargo transportation.
According to Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Trong Thang, Deputy Chief of Khanh Hoa Public Security’s Traffic Police Department, traffic police are required to strictly maintain Covid-19 protocols; raise responsibility and vigilance; promote behavioural culture and work effectiveness, and assure safety during the inspection. Violations given fines on the first day of the inspection campaign included speeding, wrong-way driving, riding motorcycle without a helmet, etc.
