The 8th press workshop themed “Press with propaganda on Covid-19 control linked with socio-economic development goals” was held  by Khanh Hoa Journalists’ Association on December 22. The workshop is designed to strengthen the relationship between the press and enterprises in the battle against Covid-19, boosting production and proposing some solutions on the frontline against Covid-19 in an effort to turn life into the new normal.

According to Doan Minh Long, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Journalists’ Association, reporters and journalists have contributed to propagandizing the State and provincial policies and guidelines on Covid-19 prevention and control. Besides, there are many articles motivating military forces’ effort to contribute to the social security and order in the province, fighting against crime and social evils; managing Covid-19 check-points and ensuring safety at Covid-19 centralized quarantine areas and treatment facilities.

During this unprecedented outbreak, the provincial leaders have issued many breakthrough solutions in economic structure transfer in adaptation to the actual situations. Especially, the province has focused on investing in major economic sectors, contributing to ensuring stability, and linking economic development with solution to social issues by focusing on investment in education, health care; science and technology; environment, social security policies, etc. All of the activities together with many practical solutions have been comprehensively and deeply reported and brought  to communities by press agencies inside and outside the province.

There are both advantages and disadvantages; opportunities and challenges arising but more disadvantages and challenges are expected ahead in the world as well as in Vietnam, including  Khanh Hoa Province. The Covid-19 pandemic has been associated with increased uncertainty with uneven and unstable economic growth. In the country, the experience, capacity and ability to cope with epidemics have improved, but the resilience and resources against the prolonged Covid-19 pandemic are decreasing while the risk of slow economic recovery and slowdown still remain; together with risks of increased inflation, natural disasters, climate change, etc.

“Health and safety are the first priority, so we have to take steps to flexibly and safely adapt to Covid-19. In the prolonged fight against the Covid-19, it is vital to effectively prevent and control the epidemic together with socio-economic recovery and development, ensuring macroeconomic stability and social security. Everyone's efforts and contribution are required to help promote production and business; boost exports and accelerate the disbursement of public investment capital and mobilize social resources, improve infrastructures.

In that context, improving the media's activeness is also an important task to strongly contribute to the government’s sustainable promotion of socio-economic recovery adapting to the new situation. The workshop “Press with propaganda on Covid-19 control linked with socio-economic development goals” has received nearly 50 presentations with the support and participation of many journalists from local and central press agencies, businesses and researchers. Hopefully, the delivering the message of joint hands in epidemic containment linked with socio-economic growth goals will help bring practical effectiveness to deal with the coronavirus crisis in the current condition,” said Doan Minh Long.
