With flexibility in teaching in adaptation to the on-going Covid-19 situation, universities and colleges in Khanh Hoa Province have taken measures to keep learning progressing throughout the year.

Focusing on practice classes

Since mid-2021, Nha Trang University has had in-person classes for practice and experiments, excluding physical education and national defense education. Laboratory workshops have assured compliance to Covid-19 prevention and control regulations when reopening to students, including graduates and postgraduates.

According to To Van Phuong, Chief of the university's Training Department, in order to help students keep up with the training schedules, the university has boosted the application of technology to support teaching and practice; and innovated remote internships so that students have the opportunity to exchange with businesses. For subjects which are impossible to be taught online, in-person teaching classes are held and students are required to be fully-vaccinated. About 2,000 students are taking laboratory or practical classes and physical education courses this semester.

Phan Phien, Principal of Khanh Hoa University noted a maximum of 20 students/lab in practical classes, ensuring a minimum distance of 1m. “The university has met regulatory compliance to the pandemic control regulations. Classes are divided in to small groups to assure distancing. We are preparing for doing a graduation project. I hope the pandemic will be over soon and I can complete my studies on schedule," a student of Khanh Hoa University said.

Meeting teaching quality and schedules

Teacher To Van Phuong said that the university has ensured meeting the curricula in adaptation to the situation of the pandemic; specifically, adjusting the time for theory classes, number of lessons/day; increasing the application of technology in online teaching for theory courses as well as experiments, practice, internship and so on.

Teachers are required to be flexible in teaching and assessment, assuring quality and schedules. To avoid disruption to on-line teaching, the university has supported 3G/4G Internet charges of VND300,000/student/semester, totaling nearly VND4.5 billion so far.

2,500 students graduated with 7% graded excellent and 50% good in the school year 2021-2022. Reportedly, universities and colleges in Khanh Hoa are continuing with online theory classes and in-person teaching for practice. Depending on the actual situation of the pandemic, face-to-face learning will increase for theory classes with 70% online and 30% face-to-face learning.
