Youth Bikers, a project developed by students of Nha Trang Engineering Technology College, has advanced to the final round of the Startup Kite 2021, a contest for vocational students organized by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs held at the end of 2021.

Living in Ninh Hoa, a student named Tran Thi Nhat Linh, automobile course 14, head of the project team, often takes a ride from the bus station to her apartment. Noticing an emaciated motorcycle taxi driver, she came up with an idea to develop a project called  Youth Bikers to support disadvantaged people.

The Youth Bikers project aims to give details of student tasks at an automotive technology vocational class for business start-up, describing motorcycle maintenance and repair; online training; vehicle repair support for the vulnerable; testing and verification; work and learning environments, scientific and technical activities, volunteering, driving experiences, exchanging and connecting with the domestic automobile vocational training system. The recorded videos will be uploaded on Youtube channel for profits but mainly for the community’s sake.

According to M.A Tran Dinh Ngoc Anh, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Nha Trang Engineering Technology College, Youth Bikers with commitment to community benefits has been funded with an initial capital of more than VND48 million to build a Youth Bikers cooperative (7 members) to produce and upload training videos. After getting online training, learners can take a competency assessment test at certificated centers.

The goal of the project is to create 12 products with a revenue of VND12 million or 12 million views in the first year. In the following years, it will continue to expand video editing, ensuring finance, building community service activities...; striving to create 48 products with a revenue of VND140 million/year. It is known that the project has passed the preliminary rounds (1,500 participating projects), and the semi-final (205 projects) to proceed to the final round of the Business Start-up Contest for vocational students competing with 67 other projects nationwide.

Although not awarded a prize, the Youth Bikers project will continue putting its ideas into action such as establishing a club expected to have 200 members focusing on career guidance and an automobile and motorcycle repair facility to support the disadvantaged in order to nature passion for innovation and develop business start-up skills.

Reportedly, the project has been funded by a preventative bureau of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Khanh Hoa and Vietnamese-German Cooperation Organization and targeted at partners of auto and motorcycle businesses such as VinFast, Hyundai, Toyota, Kia, Mazda, Honda and Yamaha.
