The processing of housing grant eligibility is going on in order to help more members and workers in need with budgeting for their homes to stay settled. The Trade Union at all levels has made continued effort to turn their dream of a house to come true.
Expecting grants for home construction
Pham Thi Thanh Thuy, a cook at Van Phu Nursery School, Van Phu Commune, Van Ninh District does not afford a private house. Although owning a 100m2 plot offered by her parents, she still has to stay together with her parents and her younger brother’s family in a 60m2 house. With unstable income from her husband’s cash-in-hand work and her salary over VND2.2 million, they are struggling to make ends meet. “We have saved VND20 million and hope we would be offered a financial grant from the Trade Union’s Housing Fund. If possible, we will also ask for loans to add to the amount for the house construction.
Truong Thi Hong Gam, Van Hung Commune, Van Ninh District, a worker at Vietnam Pearl Co. Ltd has also applied for a housing grant from the Trade Union. Her family has saved every amount of their earning and got VND50 million together with a 60m2 plot from her parents. “With my salary of VND4 million and modest income from my husband’s cash-in-hand work, we couldn’t afford a home. There are obviously some inconvenience in daily life when many generations have to stay together in the small house," she siad.
Dang Thi Xuan Phuong, a nurse at Ninh Quang Medical Station, Ninh Hoa Town has just purchased a 100m2 plot but she does not have enough credit to build a house. Her family with 2 children have been living with her parents in a small house for over 10 years. She has applied for the housing grant from the Trade Union for the house construction.
Processing for assistance eligibility
In 2021, Khanh Hoa Labor Confederation provided housing grants worth VND1.1 billion for the construction of 20 houses and repair of 6 others of 26 members and workers in need. Since 2022, Khanh Hoa Labor Confederation has received 15 applications for housing grants from members and workers in need. Most of them have low income and do not afford the construction. They are sharing a small house with their parents or renting a house although they have owned or are pffered a plot from their parents.
After the process for determining eligibility for the funding assistance, in the coming time, the Provincial Labor Confederation will support the construction of houses for members and employees. The housing aid is VND50 million for the house construction and VND15 to 25 million for repair. Hopefully, this assistance will help members and workers to stay settled, giving them more motivation to overcome difficulties and move forward in life, according to Tran Thi Huong, Chief of the Board of Policies and Laws and labor Relationship, Khanh Hoa Labor Confederation.
