An individual of Eretmochelys imbricata was released into the wild of the protected sea waters of Hon Mun, Nha Trang City on May 13 by Khanh Hoa Department of Fisheries in cooperation with Khanh Hoa Public Security’s Environmental Police Division.
Eretmochelys imbricata is named as an endangered species in the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List and Vietnam Red Book. Earlier, on the same day, an individual of Eretmochelys imbricata, weighing 10kg, 80cm long stuck in a fishing net had been given to the authorities for the release back into the wild.
