Khanh Hoa Youth Union is going to organize experience activities for teenagers in the 2022 “Semester in army” program this summer. After a period suspended due to Covid-19 impacts, the “Semester in army” program is scheduled to take place at the Battalion 460, Regiment 974, Khanh Hoa Military Headquarters on July 17-23.
 
The course is open to high school students aged between 11 and 17. The 7-day military program includes 4 days for military experience and life skills training; 1 day for social activities, 1 day for a picnic and 1 day for a closing ceremony. Especially, military experience combined with life skills training for 4 days is the main instructional and educational activity, helping students get to know about and be familiar with the military environment.

Experience activity at 3rd  Children’s Summer Camp held by  Nha Trang Youth Union. 
 
 
According to Bui Hoai Nam, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Youth Union, the training activities are age-appropriate, focusing on educating revolutionary traditions, patriotism, traditions of the heroic Vietnam People's Army; basic military disciplines, tactics; prevention of injury, accidents and drowning; survival techniques; fire prevention and control; persona disciplines, teamwork, etc.
 
Besides, the participants will take an educational visit to military units; receive training for orientation in jungles, get involved in environmental protection activities, etc. The social work is expected to help the teenagers get more connected with and better understanding about the surroundings and the community and acquire essential social knowledge.
 
In addition, Nha Trang Youth Union is working with the Navy Academy to organize the 4th Children’s Summer Camp themed “I am a navy soldier”. The Summer Camp is scheduled to take place on July 18-21 with the participation of 70-100 campers aged 10-15.
 
According Pham Ngoc Thach, Acting Secretary of Nha Trang Youth Union, this year’s summer camp will provide kids with essential experience and skills: learning to be a navy soldier, learning regulations, doing physical exercise, learning first aids, martial arts, farming, etc.; traditional revolutionary activities such as educational visits to historical sites, learning about the tradition of the navy force, taking part in an exchange program with soldiers; exploring and experiencing (soft skills, communication skills, moral education). The recruitment will begin as soon as the training contents are approved by the City Youth Union and the leaders of Naval Academy.
 
Bui Hoai Nam said that the military experience program is to provide teenagers fun and rewarding activities every summer. Apart from teamwork and life skill education, this is a chance for traditional and historical education. The Provincial Youth Union encourages affiliations that do not have adequate conditions for long-term experience activities may consider organizing a 1-day experience program combined with hands-on and educational visits, ensuring they have a joyful and rewarding summer.
