Summer vacation activities are being held by Youth Union affiliations, providing a wide variety of fun and educational activities for kids during the school break.
The summer program at Vinh Truong Ward Youth Union, Nha Trang City has begun with fun games. The Ward Youth Union cooperated with Nha Trang City Police’s Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue crew to raise awareness of fire prevention and control, providing safety skills in case of fire.
Earlier, Vinh Truong Ward Youth Union had organized propaganda for dengue prevention and control among Youth Union members, teenagers and children. The summer program often begins at the ward when the school year ends. About 40 Youth Union members, teenagers and 20 pupils take part in summer activities regularly. Activities with various themes are held every week such as tours to Nha Trang Museum of Oceanography, an exchange program at the Navy Academy; activities on the occasion of the anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs' Day; and clean-up operations, according to Bui Duc Thong, Secretary of Vinh Truong Ward Youth Union.

In Dien Khanh District, Dien Tho Commune Youth Union has organized 2 gatherings with many interesting activities such as teambuilding, singing, dancing, exchange with musical and art clubs, training in Morse codes and Semaphore signals, etc. According to Nguyen To Quyen, Secretary of the Commune Youth Union, the Commune Youth Union will organize several activities such as dengue prevention and control; community clean-up to fight dengue; Martyrs’ Memorial clean-up, roadside tree care and clean-up operations in the summer program for Youth Union members, teenagers and children. This year, 40 – 50 Youth Union members, teenagers and children take part in summer activities expected to last until late August.
Summer activities are also being held by other Youth Union affiliations. According to leaders of Youth Unions, although the summer time is not long, about 2 months, it is enough for students to join numerous activities to have fun and enrich their skills; join meritorious services; get involved in charity visits with gifts offered to the needed; roadside tree care and clean-up operations, etc.
A university student named Mai Quoc Tuan (Vinh Truong Ward), said: “I was busy with studies during the school year, so the summer break is a good chance for me to participate in the activities in the ward, socialize with many other young people in the locality. This is also an opportunity to learn more about where I live.”
According to Bui Hoai Nam, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, summer activities held in localities are practical and rewarding throughout the school break. This is also the time for the Youth Unions at commune and ward levels to deploy activities with a large number of participants. Summer vacation activities are always associated with life skill education for young people. Each Youth Union affiliation has its own ways of organizing activities to attract the participation of Youth Union members, teenagers and children. The summer program is designed to create an interesting playground for young people during the summer break, keeping them entertained and away from bad habits; and enjoying a meaningful summer time.
