Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has just issued a plan to develop science and technology enterprises in the province by 2025 with a vision to 2030. The plan's objective is to support business start-up and development in terms of access to updated policies, participation in technology innovation programs and product quality improvement.
Tri Tin Company, Ltd was founded in 2002 and recognized as a science and technology business in 2021. The company has established the Seaweed Technology Development Center in partnership with many scientists from Nha Trang University and Nha Trang Institute of Technology Research and Application to make scientific technology development endeavor. The center has focused on researches on seaweed cultivation technology, developing seaweed varieties, high-yield seaweed farming models and products, etc. The company has also partnered with many foreign enterprises in Japan, the USA, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and so on.

However, according to Le Ben, Deputy Director of Tri Tin Company, some small-scale science and technology businesses are faced with obstacles in research and product development due to shortage of reciprocal capitals and facilities. More support from the State is required to encourage the small-scale businesses to increase their competiveness in the scientific technology development.
Founded in 2015 and recognized as a scientific technology business in 2017, Farmtech Vietnam is specialized in science and technology research and application in agriculture, especially the application of information technology. The company has achieved some achievements such as building the AEVISOR agricultural and fishery environmental monitoring network; FMAN farmers' social network system; FMAN farm management software; FMAN traceability software, etc. The business is researching and developing equipment for offshore aquaculture. According to Director Do Tran Anh, the company has financial difficulties for mass production after successful research.
Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee has promulgated the plan to develop science and technology enterprises till 2025, with a vision to 2030. The plan includes some essential solutions to obstacles in scientific technology in the province. The solutions include boosting propaganda for information and policies; surveying and building a database of science and technology enterprises in the province to get access to policies and marketing programs; and promoting the images of scientific technology enterprises with many achievements.
Secondly, functional agencies are to coordinate with specialized companies to provide training for enterprises on management and administration; mechanisms and policies for the development of business, branding, innovation and so on. Thirdly, it is required to focus on assistance for the start-up and development of scientific technology enterprises. Specifically, the assistance may come in providing funding for science and technology research, technological innovations, product diversification, and competitiveness enhancement; establishing intellectual property rights; raising productivity and product quality, etc.
Fourthly, priority is given to the development and incentives for science and technology enterprises in forms of funding for research and technology improvement; access to or participation in the implementation of science and technology projects at all levels; financial aid in science and technology research or purchase of research findings; link with industry clusters and value chains to be eligible for loans from the Small Business Development Fund. Besides, there are activities to honor and reward outstanding science and technology enterprises.
There are 10 science and technology businesses operating in such fields as bird house technology, telecommunications, information technology, aquaculture, food supplements, automatic scales, etc. The strategy is to support the development of additional 10-15 science and technology businesses by 2025; and 40-50 science and technology businesses by 2030.
