Many environmental propaganda activities have been held by the Youth Union affiliations and organizations at all levels, helping to raise Youth Union members and young people’s environmental awareness to make the world a cleaner, greener place.
Nearly 200 members and young people across Khanh Hoa Province gathered for the forum “For blue ocean” held on June 8 by Khanh Hoa Youth Union and Youth Federation in partnership with the Institute of Oceanography, Department of Natural Resources and Environment. The young people were provided knowledge and information about marine ecosystems, coral reefs, mangroves, sea grass meadows; challenges and impacts on coastal eco-system due to destructive fishing, marine littering, ocean warming and so on.

At the forum, Youth Union members and young people raised many questions about coral reef diving and underwater walking’s impacts on marine ecosystem; and measures to raise coastal residents and aquaculturists’ environmental awareness. Within the framework of the forum, a recycled flower garden with pots made from recycled plastics was created together with beach clean-up operations.
Vinh Truong Ward is located in a coastal area. After the forum, the ward Youth Union will organize environmental protection activities more efficiently, enhance propaganda to change behavior for the sake of the marine environment such as carrying personal containers for coffee and tea instead of using plastic bottles, cutting down the amount of plastics we use, limiting the use of single-use plastic products, replacing plastic bags with glass containers, etc., according to Bui Duc Thong, Secretary of Vinh Truong Ward Youth Union, Nha Trang City.
Since 2017, the province has held 50 courses on environmental conservation and response to the climate change with the attendance of 4,600 Youth Union members and young people. 180 environmental protection volunteers’ teams have been founded. 70 environmental protection projects valued at VND2.4 billion have been implemented.
Earlier, on June 5, at the launching ceremony for the volunteer summer campaign 2022, the Provincial Youth Union jointly organized the forum "Solutions to environmental issues through propaganda activities held by volunteer clubs and groups". More than 200 volunteers and delegates shared knowledge and discussed solutions to environmental issues: The current state of the environment in Vietnam and some solutions; propaganda to reduce plastic wastes at high schools; environmental propaganda on Nha Trang Bay. Thanks to such activities, the volunteers and young people have gained more knowledge and experience in running public environmental awareness campaigns.
In adaptation to climate change, the Youth Union and associations at all levels have implemented many practical activities such as propaganda for waste classification and transformation of organic waste into sustainable and effective fertilizer at home; implementation of the Youth’s project named “The second journey of tires”, tree planting, clean-up, contests about marine environmental protection, etc.
The Youth Union and organizations will continue promoting activities in response to climate change and environmental protection; raising public awareness of environmental conservation, encouraging everyone to start with small acts that can make a difference, according to Bui Hoai Nam, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union.
