Ninh Hoa Town People’s Committee in cooperation with VNPT Khanh Hoa launched a non-cash shopping model at Dinh Market, Ninh Hiep Ward, Ninh Hoa Town, Khanh Hoa Province on October 25. This is the first cashless market in the province in response to the National Digital Day (October 10).

Early in the morning, many residents in Ninh Hoa Town excitedly experienced non-cash payment at the market. With Internet-connected smart phones and VNPT Money app, shoppers can buy and pay conveniently and quickly.
To evaluate the connectivity for payment and convenience of this 4.0 market model, leaders of Ninh Hoa Town bought products at a grocery store. the money was transferred to the shop owner's account within 1 minute. Buyers no longer had to wait long for making payment and getting change back. Small businesses were satisfied with the conveniences of the technology.

Tran Ngoc Anh, a retailer at Dinh Market says, “At first we were a bit worried about the non-cash payment app because we thought it was difficult to use. However, after getting instructions and guide with creating QR codes, we find the non-cash payment service practical and easy to use, helping the management of sales more convenient."

The cashless market model in Ninh Hoa is applauded by local residents, but it still takes time to change the habit of using cash when going to market. Reportedly, in order to launch the shopping model, Ninh Hoa Town People’s Committee had cooperated with VNPT Khanh Hoa Sales Center to provide VNPT Money service via non-cash payment with Mobile Money for users to make payment and transfer money in a simple and convenient way on VNPT Money app; and mobilize market vendors to use online money transfer apps.
Non-cash payment is one of preeminent solutions which should be widely promoted. QR code payment connected with payment with mobile devices meets the current development trend. The non-cash payment promotion at Dinh Market is considered as the first step in the town's digital transformation roadmap. Ninh Hoa Town is striving for 60% of shoppers and small businesses at Dinh Market using non-cash payment apps by the end of 2022 and the number is expected to increase to 80% by 2023. This model will be expanded to Duc My Market, according to Le Minh Tam, Vice-Chairman of Ninh Hoa Town People’s Committee.
The representative of the town leaders added that the locality will continue coordinating with other agencies to survey the use of digital platforms in shopping payment and have solutions to improve the application to expand the cashless shopping model to other local markets. Besides, the locality will also make good use of resources and effectively implement e-government towards the digital government to gain technological breakthroughs, contributing to improving governance with innovative smart city solution efficiency in the coming time.
