Khanh Hoa Labor Confederation has made plans for the coming Lunar New Year or Tet celebration 2023, dedicated to making sure all laborers will have a holiday of  joy and comfort.

Comprehensive implementation

In late October, Trade Union members and workers at Hyundai Vietnam Shipbuilding Company Limited (HVS) were very happy when the Trade Union signed an agreement on basic salary increase 7%, up by VND500,000/ month in 2023 and a bonus of VND18 million/ person. Besides, in late December 2022, HVS will provide bonus worth 1-month pay/ person for the achievements in the last 6 months as regulated by the company. Accordingly, 1 week before the Lunar New Year, employees will get a bonus of VND19.5 million/ person. The Trade Union is also assessing employees' demand for travel back home for Tet.

Kim Chang Hwan, Deputy Director of HVS Administration, said, “In 2022, although still facing difficulties due to Covid-19 impacts, the company has strived to make effort to invest in equipment to serve the increase in ship-building capacity. The agreement on 7% salary increase has showed the great effort of the company and the Trade Union. I hope, laborers will share the hardship with the company and join effort for the company’s growth.”

According to Bui Thanh Binh, Chairman of the provincial Labor Confederation, this year, the Trade Union will organize various activities to support laborers during  the Coming New Year with visits joined by the Party Committee and local authorities at all levels, offering gifts and greetings to workers, especially those in severe need, suffering from serious disease, natural disasters, occupational accidents, out of work, etc.

The Trade Union will cooperate with partners in the welfare program for Trade Union members to organize New Year Trade Union Fair 2023, providing low-cost necessities for Trade Union members and employees. Furthermore, the Trade Union will organize the 2023 Lunar New Year get-together program to create warm and joyful atmosphere for those spending Tet far from home. The Trade Union at all levels will enhance cooperation with businesses to provide travel support for needy members and employees’ trips back home to enjoy the Lunar New Year Holiday with their families and get back on track safely after the festive season.

Making the most of resources

The Trade Union at all levels will make the most of resources to care for Trade Union members and workers during Lunar New Year Holiday. Besides, grassroots Trade Unions based on existing recourses and support from employers will provide assistance for Trade union members and workers in an effort to bring hilarious atmosphere and festive spring season to all employees. Labor Confederations at district-level, Trade Unions at sector-level and affiliations under Khanh Hoa Labor Confederation will offer grants worth VND500,000 in cash/ person. Businesses and agencies with revenues from involving or mobilizing the private sector may offer more grants in cash or in kind on this occasion.

In addition, the Trade Union at all levels will make sure laborers’ expectations and aspirations taken for consideration and prompt solutions to prevent labor disputes; cooperate with enterprises to build plans on the payment of the year-end salaries, bonuses and other benefits and monitor the implementation; and ensure the pay transparency as regulated by the law.

2023 is the year of the Trade Union Congress at all levels, the 10th Provincial Trade Union Congress towards the 13th National Trade Union Congress. With meaningful and practical activities, the Trade Unions will help strengthen the cooperation between members, employees and enterprises, creating a harmonious, stable and progressive labor relationship. The year 2023 promises to be a successful start of the cooperation and solidarity of Trade Unions, members and employees in the implementation of political tasks with the focus on maintaining and protecting legitimate rights and interests of members and employees, according to Bui Thanh Binh.
