After 2 years of construction, the Provincial Road 3 is basically complete, scheduled to be open to traffic on November 20, facilitating travel and goods transportation, contributing to socio-economic development.
The Provincial Road 3 is constructed as a traffic joint to Nguyen Tat Thanh Avenue, North–South Road axis and Phong Chau Street, linking Nha Trang City with the North–South expressway, Trang E Industrial Zone and Suoi Dau Industrial Zone, contributing to infrastructure development to the south of the city. The Provincial Road 3 work began in October 2020.
The final construction stage is being accelerated with laying asphalt concrete on 100m main section before lane markings, removing dirt and debris from the surface before laying asphalt on the 20m of the ending section together with bed-road work, getting ready for before laying asphalt on Phuoc Thuong Bridge. 700m road connecting the 2 points of the bridge and the intersection at Phuoc Dong Cemetery will be asphalted. Pipe installment is underway on the 2nd branch, expected to put into use before the Lunar New Year 2023.
According to Pham Van Hoa, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Management Board of Construction Projects, the construction has met some obstacles related to site clearance, Covid-19 restriction in 2021, vehicles passing through construction zones, etc. After 25 months of construction, the project (branch 1) has basically complete and ready to open to traffic. To meet the schedule progress, for several months, the contractor has organized 3 continuous shifts to accelerate the construction. However, adverse weather conditions at the end-year has also affected the progress. The contractor, supervision consultants and investors are constantly present at the construction site to ensure the work quality in accordance with technical and artistic standards, according to Pham Van Hoa.
After the road opening to traffic, the Provincial Management Board of Construction Projects together with relevant agencies will continue assessing to make any necessary technical adjustments to drainage, traffic and lighting systems, etc. to ensure safe travel when it is officially put into operation.
The Management Board will also coordinate with the People's Committees of Nha Trang City and Cam Lam District to make site cleanse and set up 42m landmarks from Phuoc Dong Cemetery to the road connected to the North - South expressway (9.25km long), facilitating future road widening.
Provincial Road 3 consists of 2 branches. The first is asphalted, 12.68km long, with 9m-wide road-bed and 8m–wide roadway, starting at Phuoc Dong Commune People’s Committee, Nha Trang City to the North-South expressway in Suoi Tan Commune, Cam Lam District (including the 9.25km section from Phuoc Dong Cemetery to intersection at North-South expressway with 42m boundary line.)
The second branch is asphalted, 0.898km long, 22.5m-wide road-bed and 14.5m–wide roadway and 4m–wide sidewalks, connecting Dat Lanh to the intersection of Phuoc Dong Cemetery with a total capital of VND340.75 billion from the provincial budget funding.
