Also in December, Nha Trang City Red Cross launched a New Year charity program 2023 offering 100 gifts containing necessities to struggling families in the city. The gifts were worth VND40 million donated by local agencies, organizations and benefactors.

This New Year, Nha Trang Red Cross at all levels has been assigned to mobilize donations as 4,000 gifts given to the needy and vulnerable to ensure everyone has a happy New Year. Accordingly, each association branch will seek donations for 100-200 gifts with 350 gifts worth VND400,000 each from Nha Trang Red Cross alone. Together with New Year gifts, new houses are going to be handed over to the needy before the start of the Lunar New Year under the campaign "Each organization or individual is attached with one humanitarian address”, sccording  to Le Quoc Thinh, Chairman of Nha Trang City Red Cross.

Nguyen Thi Bich Lan, Dien Dong Commune, Dien Khanh District, felt touched, saying. “I’m so happy that I will move to a new safe house before this New Year. My family has been living in a shanty mud house for nearly 20 years.” Her husband died a long time ago, leaving her behind with all the family burden. Under the mobilization of the Steering Board  of the campaign “Each organization or individual is attached with one humanitarian address”, VCN Investment Joint Stock Company provided VND60 million grant for her family. The house construction is funded by the financial support and her reciprocal capital of VND25 million.

20,000 gifts to be given

Phan Dinh Huan, Vice-Chairman of Khanh Hoa Red Cross said, the New Year charity campaign takes place following the so-called “New Year for the poor and Agent Orange Victims” implemented for over 20 years, contributing to promoting community connection and contribution to care for the poor and vulnerable people to ensure a happy New Year for everyone.

As planned, under the New Year charity campaign 2023, the Red Cross at all levels will seek donations as many as 20,000 gifts given to struggling families, Agent Orange victims and vulnerable people.

Reportedly, the campaign is scheduled to end on January 16, 2023 or the 25th day of the last lunar month. Khanh Hoa Red Cross alone has mobilized 1,000 gifts totaling nearly VND450 million. 400 gifts have been offered to the needy in Dien Khanh District and Khanh Vinh District and the remaining will be given to other communities.

Besides, the campaign “Each organization or individual is attached with one humanitarian address” has mobilized donations to the construction of 34 houses worth VND85 million in total. The houses will be handed over in January 2023 to ensure the families have new houses to live in before Tet. The Red Cross also offers VND1-3 million grant as New Year gifts to each family.

To ensure every poor person receives New Year gifts, the New Year charity campaign together with many other humanitarian activities held by organizations and individuals will help ease some of the financial burdens for a happier New Year.

Together with the New Year charity campaign, Khanh Hoa Red Cross has also cooperated with the provincial Military Headquarters to organize 2023 New Year celebration, tree–planting campaign in memory of Uncle Ho and the ceremony to see off new recruits and welcome back those having completed military service.

The activities include offering gifts, Chung cakes, tet cakes and New Year greetings to soldiers’ families in need, policy benefactors and poor families; gifts and scholarships to poor students, cultivating 1,000 trees in response to the tree–planting campaign in memory of Uncle Ho.
